Maxwell Football Club President, Ron Jaworski, announced that Josh Mastromatto a senior running back at Upper Dublin High School has been selected as the Maxwell Club’s Tri-State High School Player of the Week.
Mastromatto opened the season in style with two huge performances in wins over Perkiomen Valley and Pottstown. He has rushed 38 times for 462 yards and seven touchdowns and also has 3 touchdown receptions. Overall, Mastromatto has accounted for over 550 yards of total offense and 10 touchdowns.
Mastromatto is only 5-foot-6, 160 pounds so it is natural that some observers might be taken aback by his eye popping numbers. Upper Dublin Head Coach Bret Stover who said, “He refuses to go down, and he has surprisingly good vision. Once he gets into open space he is tough to tackle.”
Josh is used to proving himself to others. “With my size I have always been underestimated in sports,” he said. “But I never wanted that to hold me back. It made me more determined.”
Along with broadcast partner NBC10, the Maxwell Football Club will announce the winner of the weekly awards as part of the Friday Night Football Show segment that is part of the NBC 10 eleven o’clock news.
Each winner of the Maxwell Football Club / NBC10 High School Player of the Week Award will be recognized at the Maxwell Club’s High School Awards Dinner that will be held Thursday January 9, 2009 at Drexelbrook Caterers. Tickets for this event will go on sale November 15, 2008 and the event is open to the public.
