NORTHEAST – Jamir Livingston of St. Joe’s Prep had two first quarter touchdown runs that kick started his team to a convincing victory over the public team 48-7. With the win by the Non- Public team in the 34th annual Daily News-Eagles City All-Star game they now lead the series 18-15-1.
The Non-Public team led a balanced offense attack last night, passing for 204 yards and rushing for 214 yards. They scored the first three touchdowns of the game led by Livingston’s 128 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Livingston scored on runs of 12 and 10 yards. Mike Mattei of Chestnut Hill added a 1-yard touchdown run giving his team a commanding 21-0 lead.
The Public team got their only score of the night when Darius Johnson of Overbrook went in for the 1-yard run. This cut the Non-Public’s lead to 21-7.
Mattei hit Mike Wismer of Chestnut Hill for a 20-yard touchdown pass. The Non-Public team went into halftime leading 28-7.
The second half was all Non-Pubs led by Mattei’s two touchdown throws. Mattei connected on touchdown passes of 28 and 11 yards. One of the touchdowns went to Al Desiderio of Roman Catholic who had 140 yards receiving in the game which is a record. The other touchdown went to Nick Ferdinand of Ryan.
Mattei finished the game by throwing a game high 148 yards and three touchdowns. Andrew McHale of Father Judge hit Al Desiderio for a 34-yard touchdown pass. The Non-Pubs faced one challenge on offense all night when they missed an extra point. Although they missed one, Chris Fioravanti of Roman Catholic did have six PAT’s which was a record.
As time ticked down, the Non-Pubs avenged a 30-24 overtime loss last year by routing the Pubs 48-7.
