Philadelphia Catholic League Players of the Week Week 8 – Oct. 23, 2019

Offensive Player of the Week

Marqui Adams – Neumann-Goretti – QB – Sophomore

The Saints’ signal-caller set season and career highs with 268 yards and four touchdowns in helping his squad pull away from the Burrs in the second half of his team’s, 42-6, victory. In just under six minutes of play at the end of the third quarter and into the fourth,  Adams threw three touchdowns on three consecutive passes. All total, his touchdowns covered 44, 36, 46, and 37 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week

Luke Shrager – Lansdale Catholic – LB – Junior

Sharger played a spirited game as his team won impressively on the road against Carroll, 41-12. He totaled 13 tackles (9 solos) in the game, including a pair of sacks and another TFL. Five of his stops came on special teams.

Co-Special Teams Players of the Week

Bryan Kelly – KR/Senior & Robert Jackson – DE/Junior – Arch. Wood

For the first time we have a pair of teammates sharing this honor as each made pivotal plays the Vikings, 21-20, upset win over LaSalle in overtime. First, it was Kelly who got the Vikings on the scoreboard when he took kickoff 99 yards late in the second quarter after his team just fell behind, 7-to-0.  Then, with the Explorers looking to tie the game in the extra session, the rangy Jackson got his hand up to block the extra-point attempt by kicker Jake Gandolfo.
