West Scranton (6-1) welcomes undefeated, 7-0, Abington Heights this Friday for a huge Lackawanna Football Conference showdown.
The Invaders, coached by Joe Gerek, have won each game since losing their season opener to Riverside, 32-19. West Scranton has scored 34-points or more in their last four contests. This past Friday, the Invaders defeated Wallenpaupak, 35-21. Gerek’s bunch is third in District II in scoring (34.0) but the defense has allowed 24.7 points per game.
Abington Heights has defeated West Scranton by a combined score of 96-20 over their last two meetings. On Saturday, the Comets shut out Scranton Prep, 28-0. In their seven games, the Comet defense has held their opponents to single digits four times as Abington Heights ranks first in points allowed (9.4) in District II. Coach Joe Repshis’ crew has also done it on offense scoring an average of 34.3 points (2nd in District II).
