Offensive Player of the Week

Nick Santo – Bishop McDevitt – QB – Senior

Santo was rather surgical in his team’s convincing, 47-to-7, victory over Dunmore in a First Round PIAA 2A playoff game. He was a highly efficient, 10-for-14 passing, for 221 yards in the game. Four of these passes went for touchdowns, including three to jr. WR Emmanuel Sia (40, 12, & 25 yards). His final scoring toss went 82 yards to soph. WR Corey Wright-Downing. Under Santo’s direction, the Lancers accumulated 421 yards and averaged 10.5 yards per play.

Defensive Player of the Week

Nick Lamey – Arch. Carroll – DB – Senior

Yes, this is the Defensive Player of the Week section, but you’d be hard-pressed to find another player in these parts who did as much as Lamey did for his team this weekend. So, excuse me if this report has more than just a defensive flavor to it. In Carroll’s, 34-28, win over New Hope-Solebury, the brassy and confident Lamey was a force all over the field. Defensively, he had a team-high 12 solo tackles and made a pair of interceptions. His second pick thwarted a Solebury drive deep in Carroll’s territory during the waning moments of the game. As the Pat’s quarterback he was game throughout accounting for four scores. The first came on an incredible 53-yard dash (12-48 rushing) that witnessed Lamey zig-zag from right-to-left before diving into the end zone.. Later, he tossed three scoring passes covering 4, 17, and 61 yards. All total, he passed 16-for-30, for 271 yards. Oh yeah, he even punted twice for a 44.5 average, including a long of 50 yards.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Malachi Hansen – Arch. Carroll – KR/WR – Senior

The multi-purpose Hansen had his fingerprints all over the Patriots’ first-ever PIAA playoff win over New Hope-Solebury this past Friday night. Included in this was a record-setting night at receiver where he made 9 catches for a school-record 194 yards. The last of these snags went for a 61-yard touchdown that proved to be the winning score in the Pats’ exciting, 34-28, victory. As a returner, he unleashed an 82-yard third-quarter kickoff for a touchdown that helped his team recapture momentum that was lost moments earlier. Two of his 5 solo tackles occurred on special teams.
