Wilson Area shuts out Palisades

WILSON BOROUGH – In front of 4,000 fans Saturday afternoon the Warriors shut out Palisades 35-0 at Smith Field. This was the third time this season that the Warriors mercy ruled a team.

 

After a scoreless first quarter the Warriors ripped off three scores in the second quarter during a four minute span. Palisades fumbled the ball on their 22 yard line. The ball was recovered by Nathan Burke. Three plays later Alex Parker hauled in a Tyler Smith pass for a 17 yard for the score. Chris Rodrigues’ kick made it 7-0 Wilson Area.

 

The big play in the second quarter came when Justin Scerbo ripped off 65-yards for the score. The Warriors led 14-0.

 

Parker would recover another Palisades fumble on the ensuing kickoff and two plays later Smith hit Kowan Scott for the 29-yard touchdown pass. Rodrigues’ kick with 3:48 gave the Warriors a 21-0 lead.

 

Ray Mosby who missed the first six games of the season had an interception late in the first half and at halftime the Warriors led 21-0.

 

Smith would get the only score in the third quarter calling his own play for the one yard run. The Warriors led 28-0 with 6:51 to go in the quarter.

 

Palisades’ third fumble of the game would prove costly. Palisades fumbled through the end zone for a touchback in the third quarter.  This ended their best drive.

 

The last score of the game came with 10:52 in the fourth quarter when Smith hit Scott for the 50-yard touchdown pass. Rodrigues’ 5th extra point of the game gave the Warriors a 35-0 lead.

 

As time ran out the Warriors improved their record to 7-0 with the 35-0 win. The Warriors had 360 total yards of offensive. Tyler Smith had 178 yards passing in the game.

 

Palisades quarterback Adam Hardy threw for a career best 225 yards passing. With the loss Palisades falls to 5-2.
