Offensive Player of the Week
Mason Peterson – Bonner-Pren. – Sr. – RB
Peterson’s been a workhorse for the Friars so far this season and even though his total carries were down this week, his production and importance remained constant. The speedy and strong rusher carried just 16 times but managed 240 yards rushing in the Friars, 36-20, triumph over Conwell-Egan. Three times he unleashed long-scoring runs. These runs covered 70, 68, and 71 yards. The middle touchdown run was especially back-breaking to the visiting Eagles, as it expanded the Friars’ lead to 22-6 less than a minute before halftime.
Defensive Player of the Week
Mark Zecca – O’Hara – Sr. – LB
The rugged Zecca spearheaded the Lions’ defense in their 17-to-7 win at Carroll this past Thursday. Zecca guided a unit that held the Patriots to just 110 yards of offense; including minus-36 yards rushing. All total, the senior backer accumulated 10 tackles (7 solos); including 1.5 sacks. Three other stops went for losses and all totals his damage behind Carroll’s line of scrimmage netted 22 yards in losses.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Ryan Moore – LaSalle – Sr. – MP
The Explorers’ handyman fielded three punts that garnered 82 yards. Included in this was a 45-yard visit to paydirt. The Explorers ran away from Haverford School to the tune of 44-0
