The Cougars will have some new faces mixed in with some key veterans on its 2011 edition, but those new faces should bring some upside to the Ches-Mont National rep. Cougars.  One of the “old” faces is feature running back Drew Harris, an imposing figure in the backfield and owner of more than 20 scholarship offers from schools all across the country.  He has run for 4,360 yards on more than 600 carries for his career and is coming off of a very solid junior season of 1,930 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Departed are quarterback Trey Lauletta (1,300 pass yards in 2010; career 5,200-yard passer) and tight end Tyler Kroft (Rutgers), but the Cougars have some weapons in the arsenal.  Junior field general Kyle Lauletta assumes the helm of the DTE offense and fullback Wade Mastrog scored eight total touchdowns on 45 combined rushing and receiving touches.  Fronting the Cougar offensive line is Virginia Tech commit Jack Willenbrock, all-conference rep Zach Chiappini and rising 6’4, 250-pound junior Harrison Burch.  Lighting up the scoreboard hasn’t been a problem for Downingtown East – they’ve dropped a total of 846 points in their last 25 games – an average of 33.8 points per game – and have now finished three seasons (2005, 2009, 2010) with 415+ points scored.

DTE will be graced defensively by the presence of defensive linemen Joe Wetty and Elijah Griffin, linebackers Dillian Martin and Nelson Lucas-Murphy (a law firm-esque name) and defensive backs Nick Dudley and Justin Howe.
