Offensive Player of the Week:
Taj Dyches – St. Joseph’s Prep – RB – Junior
The Hawks’ depth at the skill positions was on full display this past Saturday in their convincing, 40-to-11, victory over archival LaSalle. Dyches, who has mostly seen spot duty this season, rushed 16 times for 143 yards in his first start of the season. He found the end zone three times in helping the Hawks secure their fifth straight win of the season.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Mylachi Williams – Bonner-Prendie – DE – Junior
The rangy junior defensive end was instrumental in the Friars’ huge road win over Neumann-Goretti last weekend. In their, 26-14, triumph over the Saints Williams recorded 2.5 sacks. All five of his tackles went for losses and accumulated 25 yards in losses. He also forced a critical fumble as the Friars forced three N-G turnovers in the game. Williams’ play on the edge helped the Friars hold the Saints to just 41 yards rushing in the game.
Special Teams Player of the Week:
Brett Jackson – Archbishop Ryan – K/P – Junior
A recent transfer from Conwell-Egan, Jackson played a nice role in the Raiders edging Lansdale Catholic, 20-17, in double overtime. During regulation, Jackson was called upon to punt seven times for a 38.0 average and a long of 55 yards. But it was in the extra sessions that Jackson left his mark. With his team trailing, 17-14, he cleanly belted a 22-yard field goal to knot things up. Then, he slammed a 23-yard field goal in the second OT, allowing his team to exit the premises with the win after the Ryan defense made a critical fourth down stop on the Crusaders’ final attempt.
