Sometimes game stats don’t often tell the story of the game.
Saturday afternoon game stats DID tell the story of the game.
18 first downs, 330 yards rushing, 462 yards total offense, five different players scoring touchdowns and holding the opposition to 38 total yards as Bayard Rustin opened defense of its District One AAA Football Championship with a 46-0 domination of Upper Perkiomen at Rustin Stadium Saturday afternoon.
“This was a tough game,” said Rustin Head coach Mike St. Clair. “They came in here with a good game plan and they were tough up front, but we were able to make a couple of big plays and things just went from there.”
Big plays were made in bunches, both offensively and defensively.
Rondell White (19 carries 162 yards) scored on runs of 22, 47 and 47 yards while brother Rahmier (nine carries 55 yards) scored on a six yard run, fullback Andrew Mc Greevy scored on a 39 yard run and even reserve running back DeVante Dixon scored on a 19 yard run. Lee Kurfis caught a 64 yard touchdown pass from Mike Carlin.
On defense, they intercepted three Casey Perlstein passes and played almost the entire game in the Indian backfield as Upper Perk (7-4) never got into positive yardage until early in the fourth quarter.
With the win, Rustin now advances to play top seeded Pottsgrove next Friday nite at Pottsgrove. The Golden Knights defeated the Falcons in this round last year. Upper Perkiomen has rival Boyertown on Thanksgiving Morning.
“We’ll enjoy this one today and hit the blackboard tomorrow,” said St. Clair when asked about the rematch.

Rustin may be the best AAA team but they are not in the same class with teams in the AAAA. If Rustin wins the AAA championship just remember that they are in the minor league not the major league. Comparing Rustin to Downingtown is like comparing the Reading Phillies to the MLB Phillies!
fairplay who are you picking to win?
i say to Buddy and FootballFan. These are two good teams and it should be a challenge for both sides.
hahah okay obviously you haven’t seen rustin play. they have dominated everybody they’ve played
won’t get past pottsgrove
Rustin like i said before is still the team to beat. bring on pottsgrove were going to end their season on their feild for the second year in a row. im actually starting to notice we might see a rematch in the state quarterfinals between rustin and archbishop wood. i really want that to happen and i think thats what rustin would want too.
