St. Josephs Prep offensive lineman Seth Betancourt made a verbal commitment to Boston College today, according to Rivals.com.
The 6’6, 285-pound offensive tackle had offers from nine total Division-1 programs before his commitment, from schools like UCONN, Michigan State, and West Virginia. Notre Dame and Penn State had shown interest in Betancourt, but did not offer a scholarship, according to Rivals.
Betancourt’s commitment is listed as a “hard verbal,” which means that even though the commitment is non-binding, he won’t be accepting further offers from other Division-1 football programs.
Betancourt helped pave the way for a Hawk offense that averaged 361 yards of offense and 28 points per game a season ago.
Betancourt is the eighth player from Pennsylvania’s Class of 2010 to make a verbal commitment, but just the third Eastern PA athlete to do so, joining Wyoming Valley West center AJ McGovern (Army) and Lackawanna Community College offensive lineman Benji Kemoeatu (West Virginia).
