Cardinal O’Hara has a quarterback that could be a Division-1 prospect.
Ryan Laughlin, a 6’2, 200-pound senior-to-be, has received interest, but no offers, from seven Division-1 schools, according to his profile on Rivals.com. Georgia, Illinois, Northwestern, Pitt, Purdue, South Carolina and Vanderbilt have all shown interest in the Lions’ field general.
Laughlin helped lead O’Hara to an 8-3 record a year ago. He was the beneficiary of having three running backs amass more than 680 rushing yards, including Ohio State-bound RB Corey Brown, so Laughlin didn’t have to shoulder a lot of the load.
He completed 68-of-147 passes (13.3 pass attempts per game) for 1,047 yards (95.1 passing yards per game) and 15 touchdowns. Laughlin surpassed 100 yards or more in a game four times, including a season-best 175 yards and three touchdowns against Father Judge and 154 yards and two touchdowns against Monsignor Bonner.
Cardinal O’Hara averaged 31.1 points per game last season. After an 8-1 start, the Lions’ season ended with a pair of 10-point losses to eventual PIAA “AAAA” champion LaSalle College High School.
