One of Cardinal O’Hara’s key returning skill position players has received offers from some Division-1 FCS (formerly Division-1 AA schools).
Adam Dempsey, a 5’10, 185-pound running back/wide receiver combination, has received offers from New Hampshire, Towson, and Villanova, according to Scout.com.
Offers from D-1 FCS schools differ only in terminology – they are called “grant-in-aid” packages rather than athletic scholarships.
Dempsey finished as the second-leading scorer on O’Hara’s 2009 team (66 points), behind Ohio State-bound Corey Brown (126 points). Dempsey caught eight passes for 161 yards (20.13 yds./rec.) and registered 689 rushing yards on 84 carries (8.2 yds./rush). He scored 11 total touchdowns (nine rushing) and had two games with more than 100 rushing yards (Archbishop Wood – 110; Archbishop Ryan – 187).
Dempsey was part of a Cardinal O’Hara team that averaged nearly 31.1 points per game last season, finishing 8-3 overall. The Lions’ season ended with consecutive 10-point losses to eventual PIAA “AAAA” champion LaSalle.
