2024 Offensive Outlook: We have made numerous changes offensively. We look to be more effective as a balanced offense as opposed to a pass heavy team. We will need to utilize the early experience of our returning players to be successful.

2024 Defensive Outlook: We have quite a few returning starters and have addressed the areas that we needed to be better in. We look forward to seeing our guys do a better job of ensuring the strength of numbers and flowing to the ball. We have spent a lot of time talking about 11 hats to the ball. Our key to be successful this year is making sure our defense plays fast and makes their reads correctly.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: We are returning our kicker and have LS Gage Wolf who put in a lot of effort this off season to become a strong long snapper. Our key on special teams is that we are hopeful to be able to kick field goals from a variety of spots on the field and look to work for Cameron to give us good field position (Touchbacks, etc.)

2024 Offensive Outlook: We have a lot of depth in the skill positions and the key will be getting them in space. Brady Collins is a three-year starter at RB and two-year captain who we expect to have a big year.

2024 Defensive Outlook: We have a strong linebacker core with experience and a tremendous leader in Charlie Watson who is a three-year starter and fellow senior Sean Brice at safety. Keys will be the guys who step up to replace the seniors we lost on the Defensive line.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: Gensy Cifuentes K is a returning starter who has the ability to kick the ball deep and is very accurate with extra points. Keys will be finding a punter to replace Jake Ball.

2024 Returning Player Stats:
Junior Running Back Carter Clee rushed 145 times for 565 yards as a sophomore. That is 3.9 yards per carry. He also caught the ball 18 times for 116 yards.

Junior Linebacker Carson Schneider had 48 tackles last season, 3 for a loss.

2024 Offensive Outlook: The key on offense this year starts with the offensive line. We must be able to consistently open up holes for Carter Clee and the rest of the running backs, while also keeping the pressure off our quarterback when we pass the ball.

2024 Defensive Outlook: The key on defense this season is the defensive line. When stopping the run, we must win our gaps while keeping the opponent’s offensive lineman off the Linebackers. On pass plays, we must make the Quarterback uncomfortable and make big plays when needed.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: Senior Kicker and Punter Kaden Nicastro should provide us with a lot of consistency on special teams. 2024 Offensive Outlook: We need to play well early in our schedule and hit the ground running. On offense we lost some talented players to graduation but we feel that the underclassmen have really filled in well this off-season and are poised to make a strong impact. Our JV team was undefeated last year and our middle-school team was undefeated 2 years ago, so we feel we have very talented kids coming up through our program who know how to win. We may be young in some spots but we feel good about the present and future of our program.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Defensively we return a good amount of players that were either full time or rotational starters. We have young talent in a lot of spots and feel that we have the ability to play a lot of options with our personnel. We need to create more turnovers and limit big plays in big games.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: On special teams we return 3 kickers who all played a role in our kicking game last year. We have multiple options at the returner positions and our long snapper is returning. Special teams has been a big part of our success for many years and we will continue to make it a priority for our team.

2024 Outlook: This season we are excited to have great leadership by our seniors. Throughout the summer we met our training goals by 80% of the team, and are encouraged to see that carry over onto our game performance. The commitment level is high and can bring with it success. We have 3 athletes competing for the QB position with returning Collin Robinson who played five varsity games last year as a sophomore. Also returning is Zach Jeffers as a kicker. There are lots of health battles for positions on both sides of the ball. Our major goal is ball security on offense, last year’s turnover ratio was negative 11, and that does not win games. This year we have an exciting group of players throughout the roster who can step up and make us a very competitive team. We look forward to increased success.

2024 Offensive Outlook: While losing our top two producers in S. Smith and J. Davis, we have a newly bolstered offense with threats at every level to make plays. We look to bring a more balanced offense into this season, stretching the field in the passing game with Mekale Smith, Zakhi Houston, and Semaj Pridgen. We also look to get the ball into the hands of our many playmakers out of the backfield in the running game led by returning dual threat QB Jamai Robinson and newcomer Swiss Army Knife RB Abdul McCleary with returning center Lameer Dogan and co. paving the way up front.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Coach Jordan Holbert’s defense single handedly kept the Cougars either winning or within a touchdown of victory in 8 out of their 9 games this past season. 2024 Outlook:
Offense: We have a great deal of our offensive production back and a little more experience on our offensive line. I believe we will able to run the ball more effectively this season which can take some pressure off of Brody.

Defense: Defensively we struggled last season because we were so young on that side of the ball but the experience that those young men gained has been a big boost to the confidence. We can be more aggressive than last year and we have made it a priority to be better at tackling than we were last season.

Special Team: Special teams is the big question mark for us, as we will be using a freshman kicker, but we have Brody back to do the punting and we also have two very talented return men in Mikey Vaders and Thomas Pollock.

2024 Offensive Outlook: Everything revolves around our ability to run the football. Our quarterback is perfectly suited to run our scheme, and our young running backs are explosive. Our ability to get the ball to our playmakers outside (Jack Waranavage, Malachi Victor, Cristhian Viveros, etc.,) in combination with our run game will determine the success of our offense.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Replacing 9 starters from a very strong defense will be challenging. However we have several players who saw rotational action last year, so their ability to shoulder the workload coupled with several young guys stepping up will determine the success of our defense.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: Ethan Bowman was honorable mention LL-Section I All-Stars last year. He has hit the weight room this offseason and we expect big things from him. Jack Waranavage is one of the best punt returners I’ve ever coached, in addition to being our deep-snapper and FG/PAT holder. He is critical to our special teams’ success.

2024 Outlook:
Offense: Offensively we have a veteran team especially on the offensive line. We also return a 4 year starter at Quarterback in Aiden Collins, and a returning 1,000 yard rusher in Mason Avery. The key is to be physical up front and be able to spread the ball around to our playmakers. We feel that we have a nice mix of quality returners as well as some new talent that can really help us.

Defense: The key for us defensively will be finding the depth. We return all of our linebackers and three of our four secondary positions. Overall, we have the potential to have great team speed on the defensive side of the ball.

Special Teams: We will feel really good where we are on special teams. We have quality depth at both kicking positions with both returning along with Rylan Montgomery who will be returning this season following an injury.

2024 Offensive Outlook: Our offense, like many others is based on establishing the run game with a multi-back (FB/RB) combination paired with a power football mindset. Where our pass game, which shows much improvement from last year in all aspects, is something we hope to see continue to develop. We are certainly not the most complicated offense in the league but we expect execution and discipline from the OL and beyond to be our key strength.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Our defense is something that can adapt week to week and change. We have a much deeper depth chart at all positions this year. Especially in the Defensive Backfield. We spent this summer executing our passing game against high rate competition from many areas and have seen a drastic rise in aggressiveness and discipline from the year before. I as a coach (DC), have changed some of our principles and basic alignment/reads both in the passing and run stopping gameplans. I think we are putting our players in better positions now and we are excited to compete and work to shut down a variety of offenses this season.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: This has been a large emphasis and needs to continue to be important to us. We as a team need to understand the importance here. We should have 2-3 guys who can break a KOR or PR at anytime if we can execute the plan around them. Scoring on special teams is something I believe can make or break the momentum and flow of a Friday Night.

2024 Outlook:
Offense: The Knights will be a balanced attack on offense. We have a lot of guys back who got a good amount of playing time in varsity games as well as a district one playoff game. That experience should carry over. The ceiling is high.

Defense: The Knights have experience coming back at all three levels. Up front with our DL in the middle with our LB’s and in the back with our secondary. There is a good mix at all three areas of our defense with veteran leaders and newcomers.

Special Team: The Knights have the best kicker in the entire state of PA. Ryan Bocklet is going to be a “weapon” for us.

2024 Outlook:
– Our schedule is very challenging, opening with Danville and adding Loyalsock & Southern Columbia as well

– Qualifying for District IV AA playoffs will also be a challenge with Loyalsock & South Williamsport joining an already
loaded AA group

– Our players were very committed in the off-season. We began workouts in mid-January as well as 6:00 am weight
sessions. Our attendance was consistent. It allowed us to get a jump-start on our preparation, especially with our
installation

– This was the first year we attended team camp (Lebanon Valley College). It was a great experience for our program
in all aspects.

– We had some new players join us this year. They are very good athletes who have a great deal of potential and
upside. We are excited about what they can do

– We made some solid additions to our Coaching Staff on both levels. The addition of Steve Weigle as Defensive
Coordinator has been outstanding. His experience and knowledge has made an immediate impact on our program.

– The coaching staff feels that this group is tight-knit and hard working. They are committed on improving last year’s
record.

– Our mental approach is key this year. We need to be able to always stay focused. We need to properly deal with
adversity when it comes. Our players also need to play within themselves and be confident in themselves and their
teammates.

– We lost six players to graduation while 9 others decided that they did not want to play this year. This will certainly
affect our depth (33 players on roster).

Offense:
– We must play well on the Offensive Line and establish a running game immediately

– We must be able to protect the QB. We must be physical. We have the potential. They must believe in themselves
and have confidence

– We are excited about our skill personnel. They have worked hard in the off-season, often on their own.

– We had too many turnovers last year. We need to be a plus in the turnover margin

Defense:
– We gave up 39.8 PPG last year. That must improve.

– We need to be more physical

– We need to tackle better

2024 Offensive Outlook: An offense returning 8 out of 11 starters we have to look like a mature, disciplined offense. We want to get off to fast starts and maintain a quick pace of play. We believe we can be physical up front and fast outside to created a lot of points. – Coach Thompson

2024 Defensive Outlook: The strength of our team, particularly this defense is experience. The strength of our defense is the depth of the defensive line and our leadership from the secondary. Led by Ben Cadet not only did he lead the team in interceptions he also finished 3rd in total tackles with 60. Looking forward to key newcomers such as Marquis Washington (Lancaster Catholic Transfer) Sam Ruggiero and Jalil Johnson both in new full-time roles. Having the ability to play 7 or 8 deep on the defensive line will help the team’s overall growth. A new found attitude of making stopping the run a top priority. – Coach Williams

2024 Offensive Outlook: The key to our offensive success this year hinges on our ability to consistently establish the run game. While we have a ton of confidence in Chad’s ability to air it out and make plays downfield, our primary focus is on playing within our offensive system and being efficient on the ground.

2024 Defensive Outlook: This season, our defensive success will rely heavily on aggression and strict gap discipline. Each player must commit to doing their 1/11th, focusing solely on their role and playing within the defensive system. Also, need to improve on tackling and our pursuit/flow to the ball.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: Our success on special teams this year will hinge on mastering the field position game. We understand the role field position plays in both our offensive and defensive success. Also, we need to improve our kicking placement on kickoffs.

2024 Outlook:
Offense: Matt Walter will make the move from one of the top returning WR in the Conference to QB. He takes over for Drew DeLucca, who became the Patriots all-time leading passer. Walter has speed, a high football IQ and will have plenty of talent around him. Lucas Lopresto will be his main target coming off a stellar freshman campaign where he was one of the top 3 receivers in all of district 2. How quickly the offensive line gels and their ability to provide space for 220 pound RB CJ Pietrzak, will determine how successful the Patriots offense will be this season. The offensive line has size, speed and strength and will be anchored by Brody Spindler, Gunnar Zaledonis, Collin Smith, Sam Hankey and Brandon Lockett.

Defense: The Patriot defense returns a plethora of players with experience from last season. Gerry Groom was one of the team leaders in tackles and brings toughness and tenacity to the defense. The defense has size and speed in all facets at the line, linebacker core and the defensive secondary. Fundamentals of gap discipline and tackling will be the main keys to how successful the defensive unit will be this season.

Special Teams: The Patriots return a solid kicking game led by Gavin Wolfe who will return as the Kicker and Punter. Wolfe has a strong leg and was near perfect in extra points last season and can get the ball in the end zone on kickoffs. There will be plenty of athletes to choose from as kick and punt returners with Lopresto being one of the more dangerous players with the ball in his hands.

2024 Defensive Outlook: We graduated several All-Catholic defenders and a tremendous amount of production on this side of the ball. It’s a youthful group without a ton of experience, so how well they gel together as a unit inside our scheme is key.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: All-Catholic placekicker Gavin Wray is not easily replaced. We feel good about the competition at our kicker and punter spots though, and there’s a slew of guys who can make an impact in the return game.

2024 Outlook: We are expecting our experienced players to perform very well on both sides of the ball. We will need them because we have a much tougher schedule than the last two year cycle.

Jakob Lesher is our top returning playmaker on offense, and our offense will run through him and our experience up front.

QB Brett Yanoski got valuable experience the second half of last season and will be a confident signal caller for us and will surprise a lot of people with his play. Connor Hughes is our swiss army knife on offense. He will carry the ball and is our leading returning receiver.

Our defense will be led by our 4 returning linebackers and 3 returning defensive linemen. Gavin Rapoch was close to 100 tackles last season and is expected to be our leader on defense.

Jake Bondy was a 2nd team All State Punter last season as a sophomore, and he has gotten bigger and stronger this off season. We expect him to be a huge influence on field position with his leg.

2024 Offensive Outlook: We return a number of starters on the offensive side of the ball, including our QB Jimmy Mussina and our leading rusher from last season, Christian Banks. We are also returning a number of starters on the offensive line, including seniors Landon Morehart and Nicco DeSanto. We have a number of new players competing for playing time at the receiver spots and on the offensive line as well. Offensively for us to be successful we need to be physical at at the line of scrimmage and be balanced on offense with the ability to create chunk plays on the offensive side of the ball.

2024 Defensive Outlook: The defensive group has a number of starters returning this season as well as a number of newcomers looking to make an impact defensively for us. Our defensive line has a lot of depth and a great mix of returners and newcomers. Our linebacking core includes two of our leading tacklers returning in Owen Kleinman and Christian Banks. Our secondary has been working hard in the offseason improving on our communication and coverage skills and we return a number of players who logged a lot of varsity snaps last year. We need to play fast and physical on defense and be disciplined in our assignments to be successful on the defensive side of the ball.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: We lost our kicker and punter from last year so we need to replace those guys. Gavin Hawley and Shaw Simpson will be competing for the kicking duties and a number of guys will be competing to take over the punting duties.

2024 Offensive Outlook: We return a great leader in Evan Woodward under center . He leads by example and is cool under pressure . He is a three year starter at QB and is complimented by good athletes all around him . We return most of our backfield and receiving core. As always our success will depend on how dominant we can become up front. We lost two great leaders on the OL and the first order of business will finding the right fit up front.

2024 Defensive Outlook: We return 7-8 starters on the defense . We have a good core of experienced players returning .Building depth so we can get players off the field will be key. We are a small school and with few players , depth is always an issue .

2024 Special Teams Outlook: We need to replace/find both a kicker and punter. We lost an all state level kicker. Replacing a kid like that is not likely and will be a work in progress.

2024 Outlook:
Offense: We need to replace Luke Stevenosky, the second leading rusher in PA last season. It will be a very difficult thing to do, but we have a few kids who are ready to step in and play the running back position. We will be looking to throw the ball more this season with Dante Carr and a bunch of returning receivers – Logan Hutsko, Jake Kavanaugh, Matt Dube, Kaseem Lofton, Paiten Lapoint, and others who will be threats on the outside.

Defense: We need to replace some key leaders from last season and two of our leading tacklers, Luke Stevenosky, Cade Schultz, and Lorenzo Yourey were all four year starters who played a ton of football for us and will be tough to replace. Blake Wesler was a key member of secondary who also needs to be replaced. With 8+ returners who started at some point in the season there will be a lot of experience that will be fighting over those positions. So far in the summer we have had real good competitions for various spots. We may be rotating in a lot of kids and expect a lot of influence from different spots.

Special Team: Jordan Bowers joins the team and will be playing football and soccer this season. He is a sophomore with a big time leg and will be a key piece of our special teams on extra points and kickoffs.

2024 Offensive Outlook: We have a new Offensive Coordinator and a brand new offense this season. The keys to being successful will be our kids understanding the plays and our very veteran offensive line moving people. We need to be able to run the ball much more consistently this season. With virtually all of our running backs back this year and the majority of our offensive line I believe the chances are high.

2024 Defensive Outlook: The keys to our defense will be getting helmets to the football. We return many of our defensive linemen along with our linebackers. We have to replace some seniors like Eli Book in our secondary. If our inexperienced secondary can figure it out quickly and our defensive line and linebackers can get to the ball we should have a great season.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: We are returning a very good kicker in Maguire Blake along with a very dynamic return man in Aidan Huntington. We lose our long-time snapper but feel we have a player that will be able to fill those shoes.

2024 Offensive Outlook: Our key to success starts with the offensive line. We return all five fully healthy offensive linemen from the 2023 season led by two time all league selection, Sr. Jacob Lott at offensive tackle. He will make up a core group who has vast experience on Friday night, including Finn Mahoney, Jacob Wilson, Kurt Hussong and Van Erickson. We have high expectations that this group can pave the way for both the running and passing game in 2024. We return a senior captain and three year starter, Frank Hoogerwerff at QB. Frank’s experience and leadership will be on display every week. We will be leaning on senior captain, Sebastian Binstead at one of our receiver positions. “Sebby” leads by example, has good speed and great hands. Overall, we look to take advantage of the speed and athleticism we have to put our offense in the best position for success every Friday night.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Although we only have 4 returning starters and we will be young, we have been impressed with their athleticism, aggressive play and their understanding of our defensive philosophy. The defensive line is familiar in size to last season but with more athletic ability and linebackers we have depth where we have 8 players that all could be starters. We return captain and all league middle linebacker, Zach Sheridan to base our defense. In our secondary, we give up a little in height, but we make it up with our speed and athleticism. This is the 3rd year running this defensive system and everyone knows it very well. With our depth and knowledge we should be able to accomplish great things this season.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: Graduating our kicker and punter, Adam Okonowicz (University of Rhode Island) will be difficult to replace. Our special teams will be schematically sound and aggressive in covering and returning. We are excited about seeing players in our program understand their role on special teams is as equally important to the success of the season as the offensive and defensive units.

2024 Offensive Outlook: Offensively we are replacing our three-year starting QB. However, all but one of our offensive running backs are back. Eddie, Nayel, and Jack will be outstanding to watch in the backfield this year. One of our greatest strengths will be our offensive line anchored by Carter Storm and Luke Goldhahn. Their experience, size, and strength will help our new QB through their growing pains. Our keys to a successful year are to stay healthy, focused, and take care of the football.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Defensively we struggled with downhill backs last year. However, our line and backers have worked on their strength and speed and we look forward to this being an area of strength this year. We were solid in the secondary and look even better there again. A key for us is communication on defense, knowing our alignment and assignment, and doing less thinking and just playing downhill to the ball. Our experience on defense this year should help us and we hope to get back to where we have been defensively in the league.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: Losing Leo Hernandez as our place kicker will be hard to replace. We will need to find a consistent kicker quickly. Our punter Jack Gautsch should have another exceptional year. We took a step forward in our special teams scheme and personnel last year and hope to continue taking strides in this part of the game.

2024 Offensive Outlook: We have to replace some guys up front on the Offensive Line, but we feel like we have guys that will step up. Owen Pinkerton will run our offense once again and we hope he continues to be a weapon. We like our receiving corps returning with Danny Gies, Matt Harmon, and Dan McCusker. We lost our top to rushers from last year, but feel good about the guys we have coming back to take their place.

2024 Defensive Outlook: We are returning some key players on our defensive line. We are losing our inside Linebackers, but have a group of guys competing for those jobs that we like. We have some experience coming back in the Defensive secondary. We have to be able to adjust from week to week to the different types of offenses we see in our very competitive league.

2024 Outlook:  Riverside will be one of the top teams in District 2. Experienced playmakers returning on both sides of the ball, led by 4-year starter, and D1 recruit Richie Kostoff, 3-yr starter QB Chade Taddonio, and Tavian Branch, who is rapidly being recognized as one of the premiere OL/DL recruits in the country. Branch already has offers from Rutgers, PITT, Cincinnati, and Temple. The hidden keys will be the level of impact that our returning play-makers on the perimeter can make: WR’s – SR JJ Rogers and SO Brayden Rose – a 6’3 acrobatic athlete, with D-1 potential will create exciting plays on the outside. In the backfield we are counting on RB Ny-jai Scott-Holt to lead the way. The depth of our OL and the development of newcomers C Graydon Dupre, G Josh Ramos, David Kieper, Abe Padytel, and Exavier Pelton will be the biggest key to the success of the offense. We certainly will be highly competitive and incredibly entertaining to watch. And on Special teams, we have an excellent kick game led by All-League K/P Santino D’Amico and Kick/Punt returner JJ Rogers. In 2023 we blocked 4 punts and recovered 3 onside kicks.

Offense: Riverside will continue to run its high-powered, wide-open offense. Expect JJ Rogers and Richie Kostoff to lead our receiving group as well as talented Sophomore, Jared Jackson and Brayden Rose. Our OL will be BIG, FAST, and PHYSICAL. The development of 3 new starters at C, RG, RT will be key for us to compete in the playoffs. Our conductor of the Offense – QB Chase Taddonio brings poise, grit, experience, and talent to the QB position that will make it difficult for defenses to slow down.

Defense: 2023 was a phenomenal season for the Viking Defense. Ranked #1 or #2 in each defensive category, we expect to improve in 24’! Executing a fast aggressive style with multiple fronts and blitz, we will rely heavily on our star DEF players: Branch, Pucilowski, Kostoff, and Rogers. We will have Size and Speed across the front 7. At DE’s 6’4 215 lb Sonique Connell-Murray, and 6’1 235lb Graydon Dupre, and at DT 6’ 295 Josh Ramos will create a formidable group for any opponent. On the 2nd level at LB’s: Leading tackler, 3-yr starter 6’ 205 lb Quinn Pucilowski, MLB 4-yr starter 6’2 230 lb KOSTOFF, combined with a deep group of talented newcomers 6’1 200 lb Madden Sandly, 5’11 205 lb Ny-Jai Scott-Holt, Zack Hauswirth, and Timani Poteat will provide a deep and talented LB group. Our secondary will be led by 6’ 165 lb JJ Rogers – Chase Taddonio returns at Strong Safety, and 6’ 180 lb Sophomore Jared Jackson will be playing Safety. At CB, 5’8 175 lb Angel Grande and 6’ 145 lb Carmello Barnett are quickly becoming a very good tandem. Cooper Borowski 5’11 160 lb speedster has a chance to compete at CB or Safety.

Special Team: 1st Team All-League K/P and NCAA recruit, Santino D’Amico will be a luxurious weapon for the Vikings. D‘Amico currently has an active streak of 50 consecutive X-Pt/FG attempts. He is also a wiz with the ball on onside kicks Rogers in the return game and a group of fast, physical players who take tremendous pride in special teams will hopefully continue to give Riverside a major advantage in special teams and field position

2024 Outlook: We are excited to see what the 2024 version of the PV Vikings will be. As always, our success will revolve around our offensive and defensive lines. We have strong leadership potential and we’re looking forward to seeing that potential realized. We have a very challenging non-league schedule and it will be important for us to get off to a strong start.

Offense: We will attempt to be unpredictable and balanced. We will lean on our offensive line to run the ball efficiently. We will try to be disciplined and protect the ball from turnovers.

Defense: We will focus on being gap-disciplined within our scheme. We believe in focusing on tackling fundamentals. We must limit explosive plays and create turnovers.

2024 Outlook: It’s going to be very important to establish depth in both the offensive and defensive lines. These two position groups will determine our success this year. It all starts up front and for us to have success on the other two levels it will depend on the play up front. 2024 Offensive Outlook: We need to focus on the fundamentals of blocking and limiting mistakes. We will have to rely on some of the younger players who got some experience playing varsity last year as freshmen along with some new players and freshmen this year. Tristan Karosas was at QB last year and got to see some time behind the center. This season as a Senior, we will rely on him with the few other seniors’ leadership and focus on our strengths as the season progresses.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Defensively, we need to focus on a few different schemes and be aggressive. I believe the defense will be our strong point this season and rely on pressuring the QB to force turnovers and make plays in the backfield. Our linebackers will be the core of the defense this year with their aggressive/attack-the-ball mentality will keep the offense guessing. We have a lot of younger talent as well and we expect to see them make some big plays for us in the secondary.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: We look to gain some advantages this year with good field position on kickoffs as long as the defense does its job. Offensively if we can drive the ball down the field and get into field goal position, we will be taking advantage of that more than in past seasons with our returning So kicker, who should have a solid season for us and can be a key determining factor in our games.

2024 Outlook: There exist many question marks among the senior class. We are hoping that this class will develop the kind of leadership quality that they have enjoyed in their recent years. Returning to district play (including our historic run to the semi-finals in 2022) should be a source of motivation for this group to continue the winning tradition of the recent past.

We are trying to find ways to motivate players to put more dedication into the program. Continuing to develop a strong running game is always main concern. The emergence of several underclassmen is seen as a positive. We will continue to try to develop model citizens as well as good football players through the use of stricter team policies and practices. Overall, the coaches are excited about this group of returning players in addition to the younger players, and are looking forward to 2024.

2024 Strengths: 2023 finished with our first losing season since 2014. Notable victories over an undefeated East Pennsboro and tough road opponent Gettysburg highlighted the varsity season.

Despite our struggles on the varsity level, our junior varsity group was able to accomplish an undefeated season of their own with several of those players returning for the 2024 season.

On the offensive line we return four linemen, Michael Hill, Jorge Castillo, Connor McManus, and Brandon Wiley and we welcome the ascent of Jeremiah Coon (Sr), Gage Hess (Jr), Connor Dye (So), and Aidan Fawber (So) as well as Mason Stump (Fr) as candidates to fill out the offensive line positions. The Tight End position will be filled by one of several capable candidates. Ty Witmer (Jr), Owin Gilbert (Jr), Peyton Fawber (So), and Dalton Porter (So) will vie for reps at the TE position. Returning in the backfield are Trey Tyree (Sr), Tim Gunning (Sr), and Gabe Johnson (So).

Also returning is QB Grady Bonin (Jr) who had an up and down sophomore season but has greatly improved on his abilities. On the defensive side, we return defensive linemen Hill, as well as Witmer and Tyree who were late season starters on the defensive line. Wiley, one of our top tacklers last season returns as an inside linebacker. Also returning LB’s are Johnson, and Gunning. We return our free safety from 2022 in Austin Miller.

2024 Concerns: Continued development of the offensive line is always a concern. We will also need to see continued progress at the QB position with the return of sophomore starter Grady Bonin. There are several holes to fill on the defensive side in terms of front line, linebacker and secondary.

2024 Outlook:
Offense: Offensively the Big Red return four offensive linemen (Shimko, Herb, Spears, Delaney) along with their all-state running back Luke Blessing. Mt. Carmel area should have great speed at the WR position (Balichik, Adams, Delaney, Morgante) to go along with their upcoming QB Gavin Marshalek. They have a stable of capable backs in Blessing, Karycki, Kimsal, Klokis, & Dietz to go along with Al Bailey, a versatile H back.

Defense: Experience will be key for MCA defensively as they return 9 starters including all 4 members of their secondary (Delaney, Lukoskie, Balichik, Kimsal). Matthew Balichik returns as an OLB coming off an all-state season.

Special Team: Bobby Schoopy returns as Mt. Carmel Area’s placekicker. He has had a great off-season & seems poised to make a big impact in the Red Tornadoes kicking game.

2024 Offensive Outlook: Unfortunately, our starting QB Matt Szychulski from last year is still recovering from an ACL tear that he suffered in our last game against Lower Merion. However, rising Junior Luke Reilly has worked tirelessly in the offseason to improve as a QB. We feel very comfortable with the progress he has made all summer, especially with the work he put in at ESU camp. Luke will be looking to make a strong connection with First Team All Central League WR Mikey Enright and other players like Tyler Vitale, Harrison Ceppa, and Kyle Tomzcak.

While we will be small again up front, we are expecting much more from a bigger and stronger kids on both sides of the ball. We will be looking to Charlie Nevins, Ryder Freeman, Christain Daniels, Blake Tidmarsh, Jake McDonald and Patrick Burke on the OLine.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Our Defense will be led by returning All Central League LBs Mason Shieh and John Belvea, who will be joined by Justin Odorisio and Bryce Furey. Many of our OLine will join players like Ryan McWilliams and Quinn Conway on the DLine.

2024 Offensive Outlook: With lots of starters returning, key will just be to continue to develop chemistry and understanding and to execute at a high level. We need to be able to spread the ball around and have a team first mentality focused on winning, not individual stats. We need to find a 5th starter on the OL.

2024 Defensive Outlook: Same as on offense. Lots of returning starters and players. Must communicate, play fast and focused. Trust each other to be in correct places playing within design of the defense and the calls.

2024 Special Teams Outlook: More consistency in the kicking game. Find non starters that do a great job to help the team to give starters a rest.
