Central Dauphin junior-to-be Zayd Issah was one of several productive sophomore running backs to emerge in District 3 last season, including Lancaster Catholic’s Roman Clay and Trinity’s Adam Geiger.  And the Rams’ feature back is already picking up some interest from Division-1 programs.

The 6’3, 205-pound Issah has received interest, but no verbal offers, from Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse and Virginia, according to national recruiting service Rivals.com.  Issah is one of at least a dozen prospects in the Keystone State’s recruiting class of 2013 presently receiving D-1 interest.

The Rams’ feature back finished as the third-leading rusher in District 3 last season, trailing only Wilson-West Lawn’s Rodney Gillin and Daniel Boone’s Darrell Scott.  Issah finished with 1,653 yards on 253 carries and caught another 17 passes for 152 yards, averaging 6.5 yards per carry and 8.9 yards per reception.  He scored 22 total touchdowns (21 rushing), finishing seven of Central Dauphin’s 13 games with at least 100 yards rushing and four games with at least three rushing touchdowns.  Issah had a pair of 200-yard performances against Manheim Township and State College Area.

Central Dauphin finished 10-3 in 2010, averaging 345 yards and 30.4 points per game en route to the District 3 AAAA semifinals before falling to Cumberland Valley, 28-7.
