The floods from Tropical Storm Lee played havoc with the week two schedule across the state. This week the first autumn chill will fill the air but the fields will be dry so the footballs can fly.
The second week of the season was no easier to predict than week one. This writer’s record was a dismal 3-2 as Ridley, Downingtown West and Strath Haven won as predicted while West Catholic fell to Archbishop Wood and LaSalle was roughed up by Bergen Catholic to account for the two miscues.
The last five years, this future teller has a 219-84 prognostication record while going 5-5 for this season.
This week warms up as league play gets into full swing. There are several teams that have stormed out of the gates and have early season hopes of run to the top. The battle of the cats in the Central League has the Strath Haven Panthers traveling to face the Marple Newtown Tigers in a battle of unbeatens. The Panthers have followed running back James Griffin to blow out victories over Upper Moreland and Radnor. The Tigers have had equally impressive wins over Sun Valley and Penncrest. This week count on Haven coach Kevin Clancey to reach into his bag of tricks to pull this one out.

The Next big game to watch has the Abington Galloping Ghosts heading into Souderton to face the hard fighting Indians. The Ghosts are riding in at 2-0 while Souderton is 1-1 but fell to powerhouse Neshaminy in a hard fought week one brawl. Souderton is loaded with talent and it will show as Ed Gallagher puts together a game plan to success.
