Herb Meyer Stadium-El Camino High School-Oceanside, CA-Friday, with a 7-5 record, in 2014 defeated Steel Canyon in a quarter final 33-31 win over Steel Canyon and a semi final 14-7 loss St. Augustine, things went the Wildcats way on Chris Brown’s 10 carries for 109 yards scored 2 touchdown runs of 27 and 37 and qb Beau Gallagos 6 completions out of 13 attempts with 1 interception for 67 yards scored threw a 14 yard pass to Aris Jackson. Spencer Katoanza scored on a 1 yard run as they defeated Steele Canyon.
John Roberts 2nd year football coach at El Camino: “Tonight’s win was a big win for tonight and for the whole town of Oceanside and Steel Canyon has a quality football program .” “We did our duties tonight as we battled injuries Chris Brown my running back did well with his legs as he kept on running with the help of the offensive line.” Our defense was outstanding for the most part of the game as they gave up 2 outstanding plays had a little soft coverage our kids tackled well and they are ready to play football against our rival Oceanside” “Spencer Katoznaza for the last 2 weeks has done well and our offensive line which has helped block for him has done his responsibilities well we have to change Oceanside and we have to prepare and for the finals to be different next time in the CIF Division I Section Tournament.”
Steele Canyon at 8-5 scorers were qb Thomas Fishburn 6 completions out of 16 attempts for 132 yards threw 2 touchdown passes, a 12 yarder to Alex Ramas and a 46 yarder to NY Johnson with the 2 point conversion which was good. Alex Ramas contributed with a 31 yard field goal.
