For the second consecutive season, Council Rock North boasts an all-purpose athlete that is a potential Division-1 prospect. Last year, that all-purpose athlete was dual threat quarterback Tyler Hamilton. This year, it’s running back Brandon Cottom.
Brandon Cottom, a 6’2, 233-pound senior-to-be for the Indians, has a trio of Division-1 offers to his name and interest from a quartet of other schools, according to his profile on Rivals.com.
Cottom boasts offers from Duke, Rutgers and Syracuse, and has received interest from Maryland, Penn State, Purdue and Stanford.
On Council Rock North’s 2009 team roster posted on Maxpreps.com, Cottom is listed as a wide receiver/defensive back. He wound up leading the Indians in rushing yardage – chalking up 1,020 yards and 12 touchdowns on 136 carries and adding 19 receptions for 291 yards and another touchdown as a receiver. Cottom averaged 7.5 yards per carry, 15.3 yards per reception, and 119.2 all-purpose yards per game.
Council Rock North finished 2009 with a 5-5 overall record, averaging 23.4 points and 375.6 yards of total offense (218.1 yds. rushing) per game.
