Almost one month ago to the date exactly, Scranton rallied from a 20-0 deficit to get by the home standing Delaware Valley Warriors, 34-27. Tonight’s backdrop was quite easy to describe – ‘The rematch to move on.’

Following Scranton’s initial possession, Alvaro Fernandez put the Knights on the board first after his 27-yard field goal. Delaware Valley answered with one of Martin Strenk’s three touchdowns to give D.V. a 7-3 advantage as the first quarter came to a close. Following Strenk’s second score, the Knights’ big play combo of Marlinn Waiters to Karlon Quiller connected on a 83-yard strike to cut the Warrior lead to 14-10. Quiller caught his 20th touchdown of the season as Waiters had thrown his 25th.

Strenk extended Delaware Valley’s lead to eleven after an 8-yard scamper for six-points with 4:18 remaining in the third quarter.

Scranton’s Jake McCarthy opened the fourth frame with a 2-yard touchdown to get the Knights’ within five points (21-16). However, the Warriors’ Ryan McGowan dashes 24-yards to pay dirt to life Delaware Valley to the next round of the tournament. The Warriors’ defense became the first team to hold Scranton below 34-points this season.

Coach Keith Olsommer’s group will now play against Parkland (10-2).
