DISTRICT 11 NOTES (Week 11)

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Damonte Foreman of Whitehall scored 5 td’s in their win over Southern Lehigh.  Foreman rushed for 147 yards and 3 td’s, caught 4 passes for 139 yards and a td, and also returned a kick-off 89 yards for a td.  In the same game Spartans senior runningback Blaze Curry went over 1,000 yards rushing for the season and finished with 1,024 yards.  Ron Blake of ES South rushed for 156 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Wyoming Valley West.  Blake went over 1,000 yards on the season and now has 1,047 yards rushing to go along with scoring 21 td’s.  Jaden Bowens of PM West finished his senior year rushing for 1,267 yards and scoring 17 td’s.  Bowens career totals have him in 3rd place all-time at PMW for rushing yards with 2,459 yards.  Franklyn Quiteh (2007-08) holds the record with 2,853 yards and Chris Infante (2003-05) is 2nd with 2,656 yards.  There are actually 4 Panthers players who have 30 or more career td’s.  Quiteh (34), Chris Monaco (33), Bowens (31) and Kaleb Monaco (30).  Kael Godshalk of Bangor rushed for 295 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Saucon Valley.  Godshalk finished his senior season rushing for 1,357 yards and scoring 21 td’s.  His yardage is 6th best at Bangor and his 21 td’s is 2nd all-time for a single season.  The school record is 22 td’s that Phil Vass scored in 2012.  Godshalk had 26 career td’s which ties him with former Slater Rodney Heard for 4th place.  Heard played from 1986-88.  Scott LaValva holds the record with 51 td’s (2007-10), followed by Vass with 37 and Matt Diomedo who scored 34 td’s from 1994-97.  Teammate Eric Striba finished his junior season rushing for 1,277 yards and scoring 19 td’s.  He’ll enter his senior season with 1,496 yards rushing and 23 td’s.  Palmerton’s James Denicola who is on the chart as a receiver rushed for 3 td’s and returned a fumble for a 4th td in their win over Catasauqua.  Teammate Matt Machalik scored 2 td’s to up his District season lead to 28 td’s.  Sophomore Alex Achenbach of Williams Valley takes over the District rushing lead with his 1,540 yards rushing.  He also went over 2,000 yards rushing for his career.  Josh Chowansky of North Schuylkill who led most of the season was idle last week and is 2nd with 1,424 yards.  Northwestern’s Justin Holmes continues to have balance as he’s rushed for 1,243 yards (21 td’s) and thrown for 1,263 yards (17 td passes).  Robert Papaleo of Pleasant Valley went over 1,000 yards rushing last week.  He finished his senior year rushing for 1,006 yards.  He finishes his career rushing for 1,957 yards while scoring 25 td’s.  Matt Frame of Northern Lehigh went over 1,000 yards rushing on the season and currently has 1,025 yards and 19 td’s.  Deante’ Crawford of Freedom went over 2,000 yards rushing in his career and now has 2,124 yards.  Crawford has 34 career td’s which places him in 2nd place at Freedom.  Jalen Stewart holds the record with 42 career td’s that he scored from 2016-19.  Travontai Davis of Pottsville finished his senior season rushing for 1,301 yards and scoring 16 td’s.  He ended his career rushing for 1,953 yards while scoring 24 td’s.  Matt Martin of Marian Catholic went over 1,000 yards rushing last week and finished his junior season rushing for 1,074 yards. NOTE: So far all 11 weeks have produced at least 1-200 yard rusher and 1 player scoring at least 4 td’s.

QUARTERBACKS:

John Adams of Minersville ended his senior season with school records of 2,452 yards passing and 25 td passes.  Cayden Stem of Wilson finished his senior season throwing for 2,062 yards and 25 td passes.  For his career he threw for 5,326 yards and 64 td passes.  Both of those totals rank him 3rd at Wilson.  Tyler Smith and DJ Lenehan are the 2 qb’s ahead of Stem.  Smith threw for 8,035 yards and 87 td passes from 2006-09 while Lenehan threw for 7,765 yards and 71 td’s from 2003-06.  Dylan Smoyer of Northern Lehigh now holds the career school records for passing yards (2,683 yards) and passing td’s (34).  Smoyer has thrown for 1,707 yards and 23 td’s this season.  He needs 53 yards to break Gary Van Norman’s single season record of 1,759 yards and is currently tied with Van Norman for the single season school record with 23 td passes.  Collin Quintano of Notre Dame finished his senior season throwing for 2,134 yards and 23 td passes.  For his career he threw for 4,961 yards and 49 td’s.  Quintano’s career yards are 3rd best at ND behind Cole DeFranco’s 9,904 yards (2016-18) and Ric Schumacher’s 6,490 yards (1988-91).  His td passes are also 3rd best behind DeFranco’s 99 and Schumacher’s 58.  Cody Miller of Nativity returned to the field after missing several games to throw for 252 yards and 3 td’s against Williams Valley.  That put him over 1,000 yards on the season (1,017 yards).  Miller ends his career throwing for 3,407 yards and 35 td passes.  His career yardage has him in 3rd place all-time at Nativity.  Dan Lonergan holds the record with his 4,495 yards he threw from 1976-79 and Dante McCoy is 2nd when he threw for 3,557 yards from 2003-06.  Miller’s 35 td passes ties him with Lonergan for 2nd place as McCoy holds the record with the 54 td’s he threw.  Sonny Sasso of Nazareth ended his junior year throwing for 1,877 yards and 15 td passes.  Bobby McClosky of ES South threw for 269 yards and 3 td’s last week vs Wyoming Valley West.  McClosky has thrown for 1,749 yards and 23 td passes this season so far.  He’s moved into 5th place all-time at ESS for single season passing yardage and is currently in 3rd place with his 23 td passes this season.

RECEIVERS:

Joey Vevasis of Shenandoah Valley still leads the District in receptions after catching 12 passes last week vs Northern Lehigh.  Vevasis ended the season with a school record 66 receptions this season.  Joel Santana held the old record when he caught 62 passes in 2015.  Vevasis ends his career catching 96 passes for 1,277 yards and 10 td’s.  Brady Evans of Williams Valley caught 6 passes for 161 yards and 3 td’s last week vs Nativity.  He currently has 36 receptions for 681 yards and 10 td grabs on the season.  Zack Gillen of Wilson finishes his senior year catching 54 passes for 771 yards and 7 td’s.  Gillen’s career totals add up to 153 catches good for 2,301 yards and 25 td grabs.  He stays in 8th place all-time in the District for catches and stays in 12th place all-time in the District for reception yardage.  In the Warrior record book he’s 1st all-time in career receptions, 2nd in reception yardage and 2nd in reception td’s.  Kowan Scott holds the school records with 2,602 career reception yards and 29 career td grabs that he had from 2008-10.  Tyler Csencsits of Saucon Valley set the single season school record for receptions with his 51 catches this season.  Csencsits finished his senior year with 711 receiving yards.  His yardage is 2nd behind Taylor Kreitz’s 985 yards that he had in 2008.  The trio of Jared Graeff, Brock Polinsky and Jason Cullen of Minersville caught 113 passes for 2,006 yards and 21 td catches this season.  Graeff, who didn’t play in the final 2 games of the season, finishes his career with a school record 116 receptions.  He is 2nd in yardage with 1,464 yards and tied for the record with Gabe Davis with 16 career td grabs.  Polinsky has another year left and will enter his senior season with 61 catches for 1,128 yards and 11 td’s.  Cullen caught 29 passes for 864 yards and tied Davis’s school record of 10 td receptions in a season.  His 864 yards is also 2nd best at Minersville behind Davis’s 1,041 yards he had in 2019.  Nadir Sanders and Tarif Muhammad of Notre Dame ended their senior seasons catching a combined 93 passes for 1,230 yards and 11 td’s.  Sanders had 51 grabs this year and ended his career with 80 receptions good for 886 yards and 11 td’s.  Muhammad’s caught 42 passes for 718 yards and 8 td’s in his only season.  Mason Kuehner of Nazareth ended his sophomore season catching 46 passes for 699 yards and 6 td’s.  That’s a mirror image of Nate Stefanik’s 2017 sophomore season at Nazareth when he also caught 46 passes and 6 td’s with his yardage being 6 yards less at 693 yards.  Of course Nazareth’s sophomore record holder is Jahad Dotson who caught 65 passes for 1,174 yards and 16 td’s in 2015.   Ryan Blass of Pleasant Valley went over 1,000 yards receiving in his career and finished with 1,030 yards.
