District 11 Notes: Week 14

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Caiden Schaffer of Central Catholic rushed for 106 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Meadville.  Schaffer has rushed for 1,210 yards and scored 26 td’s this season.  Cade Christopher of Northwestern ends his season leading the District in rushing yards (1,886 yards) and td’s scored (30).  Both totals are also the 2ndhighest ever at Northwestern.  Brett Snyder holds those records when he rushed for 2,376 yards and scored 33 td’s in the 1995 season.  Christopher’s career rushing total topped off at 2,421 yards and his 59 total td’s scored ties the school record.  Harry Hall scored 59 td’s from 2012-15.  Hall has the 3rd best single season rushing total at Northwestern when he rushed for 1,819 yards as a junior in 2014.  He also has the 3rd highest single season td total when he scored 27 td’s as a senior in 2015.  Hall is also Northwestern’s career rushing leader with 5,065 yards that he set from 2012-15.  Dalton Clymer of Northwestern finished his junior season rushing for 1,447 yards and scoring 21 td’s.  He will enter his senior year with 2,212 rushing yards and 32 td’s scored.  Caden Henritzy of Northampton rushed for 185 yards vs Catasauqua on Thanksgiving morning to up his school single season rushing record to 1,458 yards.  Shane Fenningham held the old record when he rushed for 1,257 yards in 2008.  Denny Onkotz has the third highest total at Northampton with the 1,234 yards he gained in 1965.  Henritzy rushed for 361 yards after the regular season win over Whitehall  in which he scored 4 td’s, but oddly enough he did not reach the endzone in those 3 games.  He will enter his senior season with 2,398 yards rushing and 34 td’s scored.  Nigel Linton of Whitehall ended his senior season rushing for 1,398 yards and scoring 25 td’s.  He ends his career rushing for 2,228 yards and joins the “40 td” club with his 41-career td’s.  Trey Tremba of Parkland did not play last week so he finishes his junior season rushing for 1,238 yards and scoring 26 td’s.  Tremba will start his senior year with 1,519 yards rushing and 834 yards receiving.  Nick Frame of Northern Lehigh finished his senior season rushing for 1,105 yards and scoring 11 td’s while passing for 1,243 yards and throwing 12 td passes.  Aidan Hutchison of Easton rushed for 192 yards and 2 td’s in their loss to Phillipsburg putting him over 1,000 yards rushing for the season.  Hutchison ended the season with 1,067 yards and 13 td’s.  Anthonie Hunsicker of Catasauqua went over 1,000 yards rushing for the season vs Northampton and ended the season rushing for 1,004 yards.  Hunsicker scored 10 td’s this season and scored 20 td’s in his career.

QUARTERBACKS:  (last 2 weeks)

Luke Spang of Parkland threw for 234 yards and a td in their loss to St. Joseph’s Prep.  Spang went over 2,000 yards passing on the season and over 3,000 yards for his career.  He threw for 2,088 yards this season and 3,124 yards in his career so far.  Spang threw 18 td  passes this season and has thrown 29 td passes so far in his career.  Trey Dogmantis of Whitehall ended his junior season throwing for 1,997 yards and 22 td passes.  He will enter his senior season with 2,832 yards passing and 28 td passes.  Tamlin Ferguson of Central Catholic threw for 203 yards and a td in their win over Meadville.  Ferguson upped his season totals to 1,275 yards passing and 8 td passes.  Ethan Neidig of Freedom ended his senior season throwing for 1,574 yards and 13 td passes.  Neidig went over 2,000 yards for his career and ended up throwing for 2,083 yards and 14 td passes.  Christian Fye of Catasauqua also went over 2,000 yards for his career after throwing for 943 yards this season.  He ends his career throwing for 2,025 yards and 19 td passes.  Trevor Minalda of North Schuylkill threw for 2,020 yards and 27 td passes this season.  He set new single season school records for completions (158) and attempts (255).  Bob Moyer held the old records when he completed 146 passes on 253 pass attempts in 1999.  Moyer still holds the school records for single season passing yardage when he threw for 2,531 yards in 1999.  Jake Hall holds the single season td pass record when he threw 30 last season.  Antonino Russo of Northampton threw for 204 yards and 3 td’s vs Catasauqua.  He threw for 1,335 yards and 16 td passes in his only season playing qb.

RECEIVERS:   (last 2 weeks)

Joey Flail of North Schuylkill finished his junior season catching 54 passes for 846 yards and a District leading and school record 15 td passes.  His 15 td catches breaks the tie with Al Marquardt and Tevin Murray who each caught 14 td passes in a season.  He also went over 2,000 yards for his career and will enter his senior season with school records of 126 receptions, 2,023 receiving yards and 32 td catches.  He joins Brady Evans of Williams Valley this season in entering the “2,000 yard” club.  Flail’s career totals have him ranked in the top 25 all-time in the District with one more season to go.  His 126 receptions slots him into 22nd place between Chad Parton of Salisbury (127 from 2018-20) and KJ Williams of Liberty (125 from 2010-13).  His 2,023 yards has him in 23rd place between Wade Williams of Pius X (2,026 yards from 2005-07) and Brad Walter of Wilson (2,017 yards from 2003-05).  His 32 td receptions have him in 7th place which is one td behind both Dez Boykin of Whitehall (33 from 2015-17) and Nate Stewart of Pius X/BECA (33 from 2012-15).  His 1 td vs Northwestern moved him one td ahead of Tim Massaquoi of Parkland (1998-00), Jake Wolfgang of Williams Valley (2014-17) and Nate Stefanik of Nazareth (2016-19).  Owen Johnson of Freedom finished his career catching 86 passes for 1,482 yards and 13 td catches.  Jack Harrison of Parkland caught 42 passes for 812 yards and 7 td’s this season.  He ends his career catching 67 passes for 1,103 yards and 12 td’s.  Jareel Calhoun of Central Catholic caught 10 passes for 124 yards and a td last week vs Meadville.  Calhoun leads the District this season with his 87 receptions which went for 770 yards.  The sophomore also went over 1,000 yards for his career and currently has 1,070 yards.  Teammate, Griffin Patridge also went over 1,000 yards for his career last week.  Patridge has 1,023 career reception yards on 84 receptions.  Juju Fears of Easton caught 9 passes vs P’Burg to end his senior season catching 49 passes for 593 yards and 7 td’s.  For his career, Fears caught 77 passes for 984 yards and 10 td’s.  Wyatt Younes of Catasauqua caught 39 passes for 372 yards and 3 scores in his senior season.  Younes ends his career catching 62 passes for 929 yards and 10 td’s.  Teammate junior Ian Juica will enter his senior season with 57 receptions good for 908 yards and 11 td catches.  Jaelen Richardson of Northampton wrapped up his career catching 59 passes for 874 yards and 11 td’s.  Richardson also nabbed 11 career interceptions tying him with John Itterly for the school record.  Itterly nabbed 11 interceptions in the 1971 and 72 seasons.  Teammate Tristen Pinnock caught 4 passes for 111 yards and 3 td’s vs Catasauqua.  He also had 2 rushing td’s in the game to tie the school record of 5 td’s scored in a game.  Lou Skok (1936), Rod Luckenbach (1950), Paul Mishko (1952), John Erdosy (1963 and Devin Turner (2015) all scored 5 td’s in a game for Northampton.  Pinnock, who is a 2-time Turkey day game MVP will enter his senior season with 44 receptions for 758 yards and 12 td grabs.  Jack Kocher a junior at Whitehall caught 54 passes for 603 yards and 5 td’s this season.  Teammate, junior Brett Bashore, caught 42 passes for 541 yards and 8 td’s this season.

STAT OF THE WEEK:

Back to Christopher of Northwestern.  Christopher just missed out on becoming the second player in the District to rush, pass and receive for 1,000 yards in their career.  He ended his career with 2,421 yards rushing, 1,099 yards receiving and 983 yards passing.  He fell 17 passing yards short of the trifecta after not completing a pass vs Neumann Goretti.  Jordan Nelson of Palmerton accomplished the feat when he rushed for 1,072 yards, threw for 1,273 yards, and netted 1,314 receiving yards from 2016-2019.
