District 11 Notes (Week 2):

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Junior Niko Carestia of Schuylkill Haven rushed for 180 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Panther Valley and in the process went over 2,000 yards rushing for his career (2,171). Carestia has scored 29 career td’s. Four runningbacks join the chart after week 2. They are Dorian Thomas of Easton (1,099 yards), Gabe Green of Liberty (1,030 yards), Billy Stuhldreher of Northampton (1,024 yards), and Eli Zimmerman of Northwestern (1,010 yards). Stuhldreher scored his 20th career td in week 2.

QUARTERBACKS:

Matt Bodnar of Notre Dame threw for 313 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Salisbury. Bodnar has thrown for 917 yards and 11 td’s this season. Three other qb’s threw for over 200 yards for the second week in a row. Brady Strause of Blue Mountain threw for 212 yards in week 2 after throwing for 202 yards in week 1. Rocco Delgiudice of Pocono Mountain East threw for 250 yards in week 2 after tossing for 200 yards in week 1. And Colton Sams of Southern Lehigh threw for 213 yards in week 2 after throwing for 228 yards in week1. Sams also joins the chart this week as the sophomore has thrown for 1,054 career yards. Cayden Vassa of Bethlehem Catholic threw for another 3 td’s in week 2 vs Emmaus and has thrown 6 so far this season. Shane Leh of Northwestern went over 2,000 yards passing for his career (2,001) in week 2. Dante Carr of Minersville tied the school record for career td passes in week 2. Carr, who is just a junior, has thrown 34 career td passes.  Scott Schwalm threw 34 td passes from 2016-2019.

RECEIVERS:

Justin Williams of Pocono Mountain East caught 4 passes for a school record 197 yards and 3 td’s in week 2. RJ Sarajian held the old record when he had 180 yards receiving vs Quakertown in 2013.William’s 3 td catches in the game ties the school record with 2017 teammates Triston Hilliman and Darius Robinson. Jack Robertson of Saucon Valley caught his 16th and 17th career td passes in week 2 and is now tied with Nate Harka for the school career record. Harka caught 17 td passes from 2013-15. Brady Jones of Panther Valley joins the chart with his 509 career receiving yards. Alex Clark of Notre Dame was also added to the chart after reaching the 500 yard minimum in week 1. Clark now has 581 career receiving yards. Andrew Olesh of Southern Lehigh had his second 150 plus yard receiving game this season. Olesh netted 152 yards in week 2 to up his season total to 305 yards. In week 1, Stroudsburg’s Ethan Dudsak caught 11 passes for 163 yards. The school record for catches is held by Tom Perry who caught 12 vs Pleasant Valley in 1987. The yardage record is still held by TJ Backer who had 179 yards vs East Stroudsburg North in 2014.  

Aaron Gutkowski of Northampton kicked 3 field goals in their win over ES South and in the process set a new school career FG record. Gutkowski kicked 4 field goals in the first 2 weeks this season and 10 field goals for his career. Mark Lilly held the old record when he kicked 9 career field goals from 1992-93.  Lilly holds the single season record with his 6 FG’s in 1993.

William Allen – Bruce Montager 1972 (1,041 yards)

Bangor – Dave Menecola 1985 (1,004 yards)

Blue Mountain – Jeff Zimmerman 1965 (1,077 yards)

Mahanoy Area – Dan Lucyk 1963 (1,089 yards)

North Schuylkill  – John Rosella 1968 (1,438 yards)
