RUNNINGBACKS:
Sophomore Alex Achenbach of Williams Valley rushed for a school record 328 yards last week vs Panther Valley. Achenbach, who scored 4 td’s, broke Dylan Rabuck’s school record of 325 yards that he rushed for against Pine Grove in 2017. Achenbach has rushed for 982 yards this season and scored 10 td’s. Justin Holmes of Northwestern leads the District with his 15 td’s scored. Sophomore qb Matt Machalik of Palmerton rushed for 227 yards and scored 4 td’s while passing for 125 yards and a td. Mahalik is on the chart with his 1,119 career yards rushing and his 1,492 career yards passing. He is 2nd behind Holmes for td scored with 14. Senior Josh Chowansky of North Schuylkill leads the District in rushing and is the first back to rush for over 1,000 yards this season. Chowansky currently has 1,077 yards rushing.
QUARTERBACKS:
Jake Hall of North Schuylkill threw for 200 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Northern Lehigh. Hall has thrown for 1,317 yards and 17 td’s this season and went over 3,000 yards passing in his career. He’s thrown for 3,192 yards and 43 td passes in his career. Jared Richardson of Bethlehem Catholic and Dylan Mahaffey of Saucon Valley also went over 3,000 yards in their careers. Richardson is at 3,076 yards passing (23 td’s) and Mahaffey is at 3,001 yards passing (32 td’s). Richardson also went over 1,000 yards on the season passing for 1,054 yards. Senior Dylan Smoyer of Northern Lehigh went over 1,000 yards passing on the season and over 2,000 yards for his career. Smoyer has thrown for 1,033 yards and 12 td’s this season and upped his career totals to 2,009 yard passing and 23 td passes. Smoyer is the first Bulldog to go over 1,000 yards passing in a season since Bo Tkach did it as a junior in 1999 (1,069 yards). Josiah Williams of Emmaus threw for 284 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Bethlehem Catholic. Williams’ 284 yards is the 2nd highest single game total for a Green Hornet behind only injured teammate Jake Fotta’s 339 yards he threw last year vs Easton. Ironically they both did it in their sophomore seasons.
RECEIVERS:
Trevor Amorim of Northern Lehigh caught 4 passes for a school record 182 yards vs North Schuylkill last week. Craig Scheffler held the old record when he caught 4 passes for 159 yards and 2 scores vs Palmerton in the final game of the 1980 season. Amorim who caught 2 td passes (74 and 72 yards) also had a 60 yard td run. Amorim has 24 receptions this year, good for 549 yards with 3 going for td’s. In the same game North Schuylkill’s Joey Flail caught 6 pases for 153 yards and 3 td’s. The sophomore leads the District with 34 receptions and 8 td receptions and is 2nd in yardage with 576 yards. Tarif Muhammad of Notre Dame still leads the District (ND did not play last week) with his 604 reception yards and now trials Flail by 1 for td receptions with his 7 td’s. After Bethlehem Catholic’s Jaiden Ellis-Lahey tied the school record for receptions in a game with his 9 catches in week 5, Eric Wert broke the record in week 6 when he caught 11 passes from Richardson vs Emmaus. Wert leads the EPC South with 32 receptions followed closely by Central Catholic’s Griffin Patridge who has 31 catches. Jared Graeff of Minersville has 32 receptions for 454 yards and 6 td’s this season. Graeff now has 103 career catches and joins the “100 catch” club and also broke the Minersville school record. Gabe Davis just set the record last year when he finished his two year career with 102 catches.
