RUNNINGBACKS:
Senior Josh Chowansky of North Schuylkill leads the District with 846 yards rushing. Sophomore Alex Achenbach of Williams Valley is 2nd with 654 yards and Pottsville senior Travontai Davis is 3rd with 614 yards rushing. Chowansky, Davis along with Bangor’s Kael Godshalk and PM West’s Jaden Bowens each scored 4 td’s in week 4. Deante’ Crawford of Freedom scored 4 td’s in week 5 to duplicate his 4 td’s in week 1. Justin Holmes of Northwestern leads the District with his 12 td’s scored. Ron Blake of ESS is 2nd with 11 td’s and there are 5 players tied for 3rd with each scoring 10 td’s. They are Crawford of Freedom, Marcus Williams of Easton, Matt Machalik of Palmerton, Cade Christopher of Northwestern and Damian Simpson of Wilson.
QUARTERBACKS:
Collin Quintano of Notre Dame threw for a District 11 single game record when he threw for 501 yards and 6 td’s vs Jim Thorpe this past Monday Night. Scott Schwalm of Minersville held the old record when he threw for 492 yards vs Schuylkill Valley in 2019. Quintano leads the District with 1,628 yards passing and 20 td passes. He joins the 4,000 yard club and the “40” td club with his 4,455 career yards passing and 46 td passes. Cayden Stem of Wilson went over 4,000 yard passing for his career in week 4 and added another 298 yards last week to up his career total to 4,344 yards. He’s thrown for 1,080 yards on the season with 16 td passes. Jake Hall of North Schuylkill threw for a school record 365 yards and 6 td’s last week vs Pen Argyl. Bobby Moyer held the old records when he threw for 338 yards vs Tunkhannock and 5 td’s vs Shamokin in the 1999 season. Hall has thrown for 1,117 yards and 14 td passes this year. The 6 td passes last week also puts him in the “40 td” club with 40 exactly. John Adams of Minersville is the other QB to throw for 1,000 yards this season. Adams has 1,219 yards passing and 12 td passes this year. Cody Miller of Nativity went over 3,000 yards passing in his career with 3,108 yards and 32 td passes. There were a total of 12 qb’s last week that threw for 200 yards in the game. Justin Holmes of Northwestern and Jaden Newton of Palisades both went over 2,000 career yards passing last week. Holmes has thrown for 2,111 yards and Newton has thrown for 2,054 career yards. In week 4 Williams Valley’s Issac Whiteash threw for a school record 349 yards. Bryce Herb held the old record when he threw for 336 yards and 5 td’s vs Juniata in 2019.
RECEIVERS:
Tarif Muhammad of Notre Dame caught 6 passes for 196 yards and 2 td’s last week to take over the season reception yardage lead. Muhammad has caught 27 passes for a District leading 604 yards and 7 td’s. Jared Graeff of Minersville, Griffin Patridge of Central Catholic and Joey Flail of North Schuylkill lead a tight race as all 3 players have caught 28 passes this year. Muhammad and Bethlehem Catholic’s Jaiden Ellis-Lahey are one behind with 27 catches. Ellis-Lahey tied the school record when he caught 9 passes last week vs Liberty. Billy Krebs (1999), Bryan Phelan (2005) and Freddie Simmons (2014) all caught 9 passes in a game for the Hawks. Tyler Csencsits of Saucon Valley went over 1,000 yards receiving in his career. Csensits caught 6 passes for 147 yards and a td last week to up his career totals to 58 catches for 1,101 yards and 10 td’s. Damon Simpson of Wilson went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career joining his teammate Zack Gillen. Simpson has caught 42 passes for 1,084 yards and 14 td’s in his career. He’s averaging 25.8 yards per catch and a td every 3 catches. Gillen upped his career totals to 121 receptions for 1,872 yards and 21 td’s. The 121 catches ties him with Matt Salvaterra of Emmaus (1996-98) for 23th place all-time in the District. Gillen’s yardage slots him into 28th place all-time in the District just 7 yards behind Williams Valley’s Jesse Engle (1,879 yards 2018-2020). On the Warrior all-time list he moved up to 5th in yardage, moving ahead of Justin Scerbo who had 1,792 yards from 2006-08. None bigger for Scerbo than the game winning bomb he caught as a sophomore from DJ Lenehan in their win over Jeanette in 2006. Karim Brice of Liberty caught 12 passes last week and Flail of North Schuylkill caught 11. Both of their school records are 13 catches in a game with KJ Williams of Liberty catching 13 in a game in 2012 and Scott Grigas of North Schuylkill catching 13 in a game in 2017. Brice is the first player to have 2 games with 150 yards receiving this year.
