Panther Valley
With many key players back from last season’s 7-3 team the Panthers have high expectations this season. They are off to a good start cruising to the 48-8 win over Mahanoy Area.
Kyle McAvoy rushed for 132 yards on 10 carries including a 42-yard touchdown run.
Panther Valley travels to Schuylkill Valley next week.
Easton Area
Easton Area rallied to defeat East Stroudsburg South 24-22. With the win head coach Steve Shiffert passes Bob Rute with most wins (132) in school history.
In the fourth quarter junior quarterback Justin Pacchioli scored twice on runs of 12 and 7 yards. Zach Bambary intercepted a pass that led to Chris Roubik 18-yard field goal with 3:50 to go in the game.
The Red Rovers led 24-14 until East Stroudsburg South scored a touchdown and made the two-point conversion with 90 seconds to go in the game.
Jonathan Bisci fell on the onside kick and the Red Rovers preserved the win 24-22.
Next up for Easton Area is Dieruff.
Bethlehem Freedom
Former Bethlehem Catholic running back Darrius Webb rushed for 160 yards and five touchdowns (one kickoff return and four rushing). The leading LVC rusher from last season had 160 yards of total offense in 23 seconds and an 88-yard return of the opening kickoff and a 72-yard run on the first play from scrimmage.
Freedom had 278 yards total offense. Freedom won 58-18 over Central Bucks West.
Freedom heads to Whitehall.
Wilson Area
Wilson Area showed off its high flying offense in a 45-8 drumming of Palmerton. Senior quarterback Tyler Smith threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns (three passing and one rushing).
Brian Cooper caught two touchdowns, Kowan Scott had one touchdown and both were over 100 yards receiving.
Next up for Wilson area is Northern Lehigh.
