QUARTERBACKS:

Jared Jenkins of Freedom threw 4 td passes and a school-record 426 yards last week.  Jeff Haberl held the previous record when he threw for 345 yards vs Easton in 1996.  Jenkins completed 25 passes out of 29 attempts.  The completions are also a single-game school record.  He moves up to 11th all-time in the District for career passing yards with his 6,540 yards.  He needs 13 yards to crack the top ten, as AJ Long of Pius X sits in 10th with 6,552 yards (2010-11).  Jenkins has 66 career td passes which moves him up to 13th place all-time.  Deven Bollinger of Northwestern also set a new school record for completions in a game with 19 vs Saucon Valley last week.  Bollinger is now in 8th place all-time in the District with 6,676 career passing yards.  He is also tied with Tyler Smith of Wilson (2006-09) for all-time career td passes as both have thrown for 87 each.  Moving up 4 spots in career passing yardage and ahead of Bollinger, Long, Doug Erney of Liberty and Ric Schumacher of Notre Dame is Anthony Harris of Nazareth.  Harris threw for 236 yards and 2 td’s last week vs Whitehall bringing his career total to 6,689 yards which puts him in 7th place all-time in the District.  Harris also has thrown 67 career td passes which puts him in 12th place on the all-time District list, one ahead of Jenkins.  Bryce Herb of Williams Valley threw for 268 yards and 3 td’s in their loss to Upper Dauphin last week.  Herb leads the District with 1,790 yards passing and is tied for the lead for td passes with Bollinger as both have thrown 25 this year.  Herb’s 25 td passes also ties the school record that Stephen Sedesse set in 2012.  We had 5 Qb’s last week go over 1,000 yards passing for the season.  They were, Lawson Bray of PM West (1,042 yards), Will Fish of ES South (1,051 yards), Jason Dean of Blue Mountain (1,073 yards), Jared Richardson of Bethlehem Catholic (1,032 yards) and Joe Kerbacher of Northampton (1,239 yards).  Kerbacher threw for 263 yards and a school tying 5 td passes.  Zach Szoke threw 5 td passes for the K-Kids back in 2008 vs PM West.  Kerbacher also broke the single-season td pass record with his 20 this year.  Craig Muschko held the old record when he threw 18 td passes in the 2003 season.  In that 2003 season, Jeff Pammer, Billy Haydt and John Oplinger each caught 5 td passes each from Muschko.  Kerbacher, who is just a junior, along with Muschko and Nick Cook (2011-13) all threw 27 career td passes and are currently tied for 2nd place at Northampton.  Eric Spadt is your record holder with 36 that he threw from 1993-95.  Damon Yost of Pottsville threw for 306 yards and 3 td’s last week and in the process broke the school’s single-season td pass record.  Tony Gomez held the old record when he threw for 22td’s in both the 2000 and 2001 seasons.  Yost now has thrown 23 td passes this year.  Gomez still holds the career school records for both passing yardage (5,033) and td passes (53).  Brayden Knoblauch of Tamaqua threw for 216 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Lehighton.  Knoblauch (3,838 yards) along with Minersville’s Scott Schwalm (3,950 yards) are nearing 4,000 yards passing for their careers.  Andrew Darno of Notre Dame threw for over 200 yards in back to back weekends as he threw for 207 yards vs Catasauqua last week.

RECEIVERS:

Nathan Stefanik of Nazareth stays in 7th place all-time in the District with his 155 career receptions.  His 2,117 yards has him moving up one spot to 16th all-time in the District.  Stefanik leapfrogs Miguel Hernandez of Catasauqua who had 2,082 career receiving yards from 2014-16.  Allen Negrete of Whitehall and Gabe Davis of Minersville share the District lead with 51 catches each.  Davis leads the District in yardage with 834 yards which is also a school record.  Bryce Ellinger had 810 yards receiving in 2017 as a junior and 41 catches as a senior last year.  Davis now owns all 3 single-season reception records.  Along with his 51 catches and 834 yards he also has a school-record 9 td grabs.  Jesse Engle of Williams Valley who was leading the District with 10 td catches last week now has some company.  Teammate, Bo Raho caught 8 passes last week for 192 yards and 2 td’s also has 10 td receptions.  Christian Greggo of Notre Dame caught 2 td passes last week and has 10.  Jared Russell of Northampton caught 3 td passes last week and also has 10 on the season. Russell tied the school record of 3 in a game and also tied the single-season record of 10 td grabs.  At least six other K-Kids caught 3 td’s in a game.  They are, Charles Fogel (1950), Ed Kornfeind (1979), John Ivankovits (1980), Ryan Grube (1986), Jason Kremus (1987) and Vance Szabo.  Russell is tied with Kyle George set the record when he caught 10 td passes in 2015.  Nate Boyle of Tamaqua who already holds career school records for td’s (66) and receptions (93), broke the career reception yardage record with his 1,410 yards last week.  But unfortunately so did teammate Matt Kistler who had a big game last week,  Kistler caught 7 passes for 128 yards and a td and now owns the record with 1,455 yards.  Anthony Bumbulsky (2007-09) held the old record of 1,399 yards.  Zack Gillen of Wilson caught 8 passes for 169 yards last week vs Palmerton.  Gillen caught a 56-yard td from Cayden Stem and a 52 yarder from Dylan Goldsworth and now has 9 td grabs on the season.
