DISTRICT NOTES – WEEK 10:
I’ve added a couple of more players to the chart this week as the College coaches will start to look at players when their season is over.
RUNNING BACKS: Nysir Minney-Gratz of Easton rushed for a District 11 record 469 yards in their win over Nazareth. Nick Kurtz of Whitehall held the old record when he rumbled for 429 yards against Freedom in 1999. Minney-Gratz carried the ball 35 times and scored 6 td’s putting him over 2,000 yards for his career to go along with 31 td’s. He now has 1,715 yards rushing this year which moves him into 4th place at Easton. Minney-Gratz eked by Eric Thompson’s 1,711 yards from 1993. Evan Culver of Saucing Valley rushed for 160 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Palisades. Culver takes over the District lead with his 33 td’s and is now 29 yards away from 2,000 yards rushing for the season. Antwon Keenan of Bethlehem Catholic also scored 4 td’s last week and now has 32 this year. Keenan moves up to 3rd place at the school moving ahead of Eddie Scipio’s 31 td’s (2000). Culver and Keenan will be on the same field on Saturday in a District 11 AAA playoff game. Austyn Borre of Pleasant Valley went over 1,000 yards rushing for the 3rd time in his career. Borre has scored 19 td’s this year breaking the school record of 18 set by Chris Jacobs in 1998. He moves into 18th place all-time in the District with his 65 career td’s. Wyatt Clements of Lehighton now has 62 td’s as does Culver. That ties them with Jeremy Mack of Southern Lehigh, Tim Barlok of Bethlehem Catholic, Desmond Spady of Pius X and Niko Petrone of ES South for 22nd place all-time in the District. Harry Hall of Northwestern has 58 td’s. Clements rushed for 186 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Jim Thorpe and now has 3,805 career rushing yards. Devante Robinson of Dieruff backed up his 246 yards rushing in week 9 with 245 yards against Allen to finish the season with 1,349 yards. That’s 6th best all-time at Dieruff. Thomas Melchiorre of ES North set several school records last week in their win over ES South. Melchiorre rushed for a school record 329 yards to finish the year with 1,697 yards (another record). His 21 td’s this year ties Joe Clouse’s school record that he set in 2011. Melchiorre, who is just a junior, is also the Timberwolves career rushing leader with his 2,691 yards and the career td leader with 32. Bud Moyer of Tamaqua finished his career by rushing 23 consecutive times to finish the game against Marian Catholic. Moyer had 143 yards and 3 td’s in the win. Mike Stasko of Palmerton scored 2 td’s in their win over Northern Lehigh to finish the year with 21 td’s. That breaks the old single season school record of 20 that Chris Siracuse set in 1999. Sophomore, Dylan Rabuck of Williams Valley, now has exactly 1,000 yards on the season. Kyle Boney of Emmaus has 2,002 yards rushing this year. He needs 41 yards to break Andrew Davidson’s school record (2,042 in 2014).
