District 11 Top Returning Players Week 11

DISTRICT 11 NOTES (Week 11):   

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Sean Steckert of Southern Lehigh rushed for a school record 352 yards and 4td’s in their playoff win over Jim Thorpe. Asher Smith held the old record when he rushed for 323 yards vs ES South in a 2019 which was also a playoff game. William Day of Easton went over 1,000 yards rushing in week 11 to join his teamate Dorian Thomas. Day has 1,030 yards rushing and 20 td’s this season while Thomas has rushed for 1,288 yards and scored 19 td’s this year. They are the 4th pair of Easton teammates to rush for over 1,000 yards each in a season. Brad Piperata and Ovid Goulbourne did it in 2003, followed by Shane Simpson and Kyle Bambary in 2013, and Simpson again in 2014 with Dalvyn Reynolds. Colton Reber of Schuylkill Haven hit the 1,000 yard mark and joined teammate and District leader Niko Carestia on the list. Reber has 1,057 yards and Carestia is at 2,437 yards after rushing for 313 yards in last week’s win over Palisades. Haven also has 4 sets of teammates with 1,000 yards rushing in the same season. William Casella and Ryan Fink were the first to do it in 2013, followed by Danny Lozada and Mike Kalyan in 2016 and Carestia last year with Aiden Myers. Billy Stuhldreher of Northampton cracked the 1,000 yard barrier and has 1,001 yards on the season with the Catasauqua game to go yet. Carestia leads the District with 33 td’s and is followed by ES South’s Charles Capers who has 29 after his 4 td’s vs Pleasant Valley last week. Eli Zimmerman of Northwestern and Steckert both have scored 26 td’s this year. Caiden Faust of Pen Argyl went over 1,000 yards rushing on the season in their win over Northern Lehigh. Faust has 1,067 yards with 16 td’s scored.

QUARTERBACKS:

Cole Ordway of Easton became the first Rover to throw for 300 yards in a game. Ordway threw for 314 yards in their win over Stroudsburg to break the old record of 275 yards that Ben Nimeh threw vs Nazareth in 2016. Ordway has thrown for 1,564 yards and 14 td’s so far this season. Cole Lazorick of Jim Thorpe threw for a school record 389 yards and 3 td’s vs Southern Lehigh last week. Matt Long held the previous record when he threw for 342 yards and 4 td’s in a 31-27 loss to Pius X in 1999. Long had 3 career 300 yard games and Corey Cinicola had one when he threw for 301 yards in a 34-25 win over Minersville in 2008. Lazorick went over 2,000 yards on the season (2,059 yards) which is also a school record. Cinicola held the old record when he threw for 1,954 yards in 2007 as a sophomore. Matt Bodnar of Notre Dame threw for 296 yards in their loss to North Schuylkill and ended the season throwing for a District record 4,079 yards. Brendan Nosovitch of Central Catholic held the old record when he threw for 3,809 yards in 2011. Bodnar also holds the District single season record for yards per game with 372 ypg. He threw for more than 200 yards in each of his 11 games. Bodnar still leads the District with 37 td passes. Brady Shomper of Williams Valley is second with 32 td passes. He went over 2,000 yards passing on the season (2,039) and also went over 1,000 yards rushing in his career (1,006). Chase Walker of Freedom went over 2,000 yards on the season (2,090) and has thrown 19 td passes. Colton Sams of Southern Lehigh jumps up to 2nd place for passing yards in the District this season with 2,141 yards. Peyton Falzone of Nazareth is in 3rd place as he ends his junior year throwing for 2,136 yards and 23 td passes. Dante Carr of Minersville ends his junior year throwing for 1,757 yards with 23 td passes. Carr joined the “4,000 yard” club with his 4,069 yards and also has 50 career td passes. He also rushed for 1,182 yards and 22 td’s this season. Ben Kreitzer of Nativity ended his career by joining the “4,000 yard” club. Kreitzer threw for 4,092 career yards and 35 td passes. His 35 career td passes ties him for 2nd place all-time at Nativity with Dan Lonergan (1976-79) and Cody Miller (2019-21). Dante McCoy holds the record when he threw for 54 td passes from 2003-06. Luke Kane of Tamaqua ends his career throwng for 3,253 yards and 29 td passes. Kane also rushed for 1,059 yards and 24 td’s in his career. Shane Leh of Northwestern went over 3,000 yards for his career in week 11. The junior has thrown for 3,015 yards and has 43 td passes. Caden Mengel of North Schuylkill rushed for 207 yards vs Notre Dame including the game winner in overtime. Mengel has thrown for 1,382 yards and 13 td passes this season to go along with 552 yards rushing and 7 td’s.
