DISTRICT 11 NOTES (week 12):

RUNNINGBACKS:

Sean Steckert of Southern Lehigh rushed for 228 yards, caught 3 passes for 65 yards and scored 6 td’s in their win over Pottville in week 12. Steckert raised his season totals to 1,606 yard rushing and 32 td’s. His 6 td’s in the game ties the school record. Jeremy Mack scored 6 td’s vs Palisades in 1997 and Luke Strauss scored 6 vs Catasauqua in 2017. District leader Niko Carestia of Schuylkill Haven rushed for 200 yards and 5 td’s in their win over Executive Education. Carestia upped his season totals to 2,637 yards and 38 td’s. No player in District 11 has ever finished the season scoring 38 td’s. It’s the only number of td’s from 1 to 40 not to have a player finish with. Carestia has scored 63 career td’s which ironically is is the lowest number total not to have a District 11 player end their career with. That should continue since Haven isn’t finished playing this year and Carestia is only a junior. ES South’s Charles Capers rushed for 241 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Whitehall. Capers has rushed for 1,823 yards and scored 31 td’s this season. Capers also joined the chart as a reciver as he’s caught 34 passes for 514 yards and 2 td’s. Eli Zimmerman of Northwestern rushed for 216 yards and 3 td’s in their win over North Schuylkill. His 1,840 yards rushing this season is 2nd best behind Carestia. Zimmerman joined the “40 td” club and now has 42 career td’s. Aaron Beete of Freedom rushed for 1,748 yards and scored 21 td’s this season. The yardage breaks the school record by 7 as Darrius Webb rushed for 1,741 yards in 2009. Deante’ Crawford also reached the 1,700 yard mark when he rushed for 1,719 yards in 2012 for the Patriots. Beete also went over 2,000 yards for his career and ended with 2,101 yards. TJ Lawrence of Parkland reached the 1,000 yard mark in week 12 and currently has 1,054 yards rushing this season. Freshamn Fletcher Thompson of Williams Valley continues to impress as he’s rushed for 1,341 yards and scored 19 td’s this season. Those totals are both the 2nd highest ever for a freshman in District 11. Jordan Gray of Nazareth carried the ball 267 times for 1,663 yards and scored 22 td’s as a freshman in 2011. Teammate junior qb Brady Shomper rushed for 168 yards and scored 4 td’s in their win over Pen Argyl. In the same game Pen Argyl’s junior qb Mason Soos went over 1,000 yads rushing for his career (1,008) and joins the chart. Also joining the chart is Allen’s Kemani Wimberly who finished his career rushing for 1,045 yards. Bethlehem’s Catholic Cayden Vassa became the 9th qb to join the rushing list, as the junior has now rushed for a career 1,023 yards thru week 12. JuJu Bainbridge of Pottsville rushed for 187 yards and 4 td’s vs Southern Lehigh in week 12. Bainbridge went over 1,000 yards for the season (1,123).

QUARTERBACKS:

Colton Sams of Southern Lehigh threw for 229 yards and 2 td’s vs Pottsville to raise his totals to 2,370 yards and 27 td passes thru 12 weeks. Sams has 7-200 yard games this season. Cole Ordway of Easton threw for 212 yards and a td vs Emmaus and will enter the Phillipsburg game with 1,776 yards and 15 td passes. Chase Wallker of Freedom ended the season throwing for 2,318 yards and 20 td passes. Walker had 8-200 yard games this season. Walker ended his career throwing for 3,837 yards and 32 td passes.

RECEIVERS:

Josh Louk of Jim Thorpe caught 10 passes for 250 yards and 3 td’s in week 11 vs Southern Lehigh. The 10 catches matches his teammate Justin Yescavage total in week 5. Josh Hontz and Khaaliq Lynch hold the school record as each caught 11 passes in game vs Tamaqua in 2007 and 2012 respectfullly. Louk’s 250 yards ties the school record that Don Evans set when he had 250 yards vs CMVT in 2000. Louk’s 3 td catches falls 1 short of the school record. Art Guth jr. caught 4 td passes vs Summit Hill in 1961. Louk also had a rushing td to give him 4 for the game. Jim Thorpe had 3 players catch at least 40 passes this season with Yescavage leading the way with 55 catches, followed by Louk’s 49 catches and Aidan Curran’s 42 catches. Notre Dame also had 3 players with 40 or more catches. Carmine Diaz caught 59, Jonathan Striba 50 and Alex Clark 40. Yescavage owns Jim Thorpe’s career records for receptions (132), and reception yardage (2,170 yards). Victor Schlosser of Tamaqua caught 10 passes in week 11 to tie the school record. Rich Koch caught 10 passes vs Marian Catholic in 1994 and Vince Boyer caught 10 passes vs Blue Mountain in 1997. Schlosser’s 65 catches this year set a new school record. Matt Kistler held the old record when he caught 60 passes in 2019. Noah Dolbin of Nativity ended his career catching 140 passes (16th best in District 11) for 2,790 yards (4th best) and 23 td’s. Jack Robertson of Saucon Valley caught 10 passes for 70 yards and a td in week 11 vs Northwestern to end the season with school records of 62 receptions, 988 yards, and 14 td catches. He also owns all 3 career school records (135 catches, 2,144 yards, 28 td’s). Xzavier Pusateri of ES South leads the District with 66 receptions and is in 2nd place for yardage with his school record 1,160 yards. Dan Cason held the record when he had 1,095 yards receiving in 2009. John Murphy also had over 1,000 or ES South when he caught a school record 69 passes for 1,031 yards in 2016. Pusateri joined the “2,000 yard” club in week 12 and has career school records of 116 receptions and 2,011 receiving yards. Christian Sapp held the old records when he caught 105 passes for 1,933 yards from 2018-20. ES South only played 4 games in the 2020 covid year but Sapp managed to catch 15 passes for 338 yards and 5 td’s. Kian Kzyzanowski of Williams Valley has 60 receptions for a District leading 1,161 yards and 17 td catches. His 60 catches ties the school record that OJ Grow set in 1990. His yardage breaks Grow’s school record of 1,114 yards and his 17 td’s breaks the school record that Owen Daniel set in 2012 when he caught 16 td passes. Krzyzanowski has 30 career td receptions which puts him in a tie with Cason for 11th place all-time in the District, but only 3rd best Williams Valley. Jesse Engle owns the school record with his 34 td grabs he had from 2018-20. Jake Wolfgang is 2nd with his 31 he had from 2015-17. Gaige Guers of Blue Mountain ends his career with a school record 87 receptions and 1,442 receiving yards. He tied the school record for career td receptions with 11. Andrew Olesh of Southern Lehigh joined the “2,000 yard” club in week 11. After week 12, his career totals have him catching 132 passes for 2,070 yards and 19 td’s. Logan Hutsko of Minersville ends his career catching 80 passes for 1,489 yards and a school record 20 td receptions. Teammate Paiten Lapoint is right behind Hutsko with 75 catches for 1,352 yards and 15 td’s. Lapoint is just a junior. Talon Dogmantis of Whitehall caught 5 passes for 183 yards and 2 td’s in week 11. Ethan Dudsak of Stroudsburg ends the season with a school record 62 receptions and school record 82 career receptions. Teammate Kamari Coleman caught 70 career passes for 1,145 yards and 15 td’s. His yardage and td grabs are both the 2nd highest at Stroudsburg behind Marcello Riccardi who had 1,205 yards receiving and 17 td catches from 2013-15.
