DISTRICT 11 NOTES (week 13):
RUNNINGBACKS:
Eli Zimmerman of Northwestern rushed for 222 yards and scored 3 td’s in their win over Conwell-Egan to put him over 2,000 yards rushing this season (2,062 yards). Zimmerman scored 32 td’s this season and 44 for his career. He becomes the 2nd Tiger to gain 2,000 yards and the 4th to score 30 td’s in a season. Brett Snyder holds the school rushing record with his 2,376 yards in 1995. Dalton Clymer holds the school record for td’s in a season with the 35 he scored last year. Snyder is 2nd with 33 td’s and Cade Christopher has the 4th highest total with the 30 he scored in 2022. Sean Steckert of Southern Lehigh rushed for 184 yards and scored all 4 td’s in their win over Bethlehem Catholic. Steckert has 1,760 rushing yards and scored 36 total td’s this season. The 36 td’s ties him for 2nd place at the school with Cade Sawyer who scored 36 td’s just last year. Asher Smith holds the school record with the 45 he scored in 2019. Steckert went over 2,000 yards for his career (2,015) and also joined the “40 td” club with exactly 40. District leader Niko Carestia of Schuylkill Haven ended his junior season rushing for 2,702 yards and scoring 40 td’s. The yardage is 3rd best at Haven behind Zach Barket’s 4,187 yards he had in 2008 and Kobe Brish’s 2,775 yards he rushed for in 2017. Carestia will enter his senior year with 4,631 rushing yards and 65 td’s. Teammate sophomore Colton Reber finished the season rushing for 1,114 yards and 19 td’s. ES South’s Charles Capers finished the season rushing for 1,890 yards and scoring 32 td’s. His yardage is 5th best all-time at ESS. James Mungro holds down the top 2 spots with his 3,089 yards in 1995 and his 2,541 yards in 1996. Niko Petrone rushed for 2,113 yards in 2013 and Ryan Clark had gained 1,913 yards in 2018. Capers ended his career scoring 39 td’s. Reilly Bechtel of Emmaus finished his senior year rushing for 1,352 yards and 19 td’s.
QUARTERBACKS:
Colton Sams of Southern Lehigh threw for 177 yards and a td vs Bethlehem Catholic upping his season total to a school record 2,547 yards. Blake Levengood held the old record when he threw for 2,417 yards in 2015. Sams also tied Levengood’s single season record of 28 td passes. The sophomore also went over 3,000 yards for his career (3,160). Brady Shomper of Williams Valley became the first Viking to pass for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season. Shomper went over 1,000 yards rushing in their win over Schuylkill Haven (1,056) and upped his passing yardage total to 2,235 yards. Shomper’s yardage total and his td passes (34) are 2nd best for a single season at Williams Valley. Bryce Herb owns both school records when he threw for 2,688 yards and 37 td passes in 2019 as a junior. Ivan Laubach of ES South ended his junior season passing for 2,163 yards and 20 td passes. Laubach also went over 3,000 yards passing for his career (3,007). Carter Vassa of Bethlehem Catholic ends his junior year passing for 1,383 yards and 12 td passes. Vassa will enter his senior year with 2,939 yards passing and 30 td passes. Osmany Guzman of Parkland has 1,711 yards passing and 13 td passes so far this season. Jerek Cooper of Emmaus went over 1,000 yards passing (1,026) on the season in their loss to Parkland.
RECEIVERS:
Xzavier Pusateri of ES South ends his senior season catching a District leading 73 catches for 1,313 yards and 13 td catches. His catches and yardage are school records. For his career he caught a school record 123 passes for a school record 2,164 yards and 22 td catches. Dan Cason owns the school record for td catches with the 30 he caught in 2008 (10), and 2009 (20). Christian Sapp had the 2nd highest total with his 26 td grabs from 2018-20. Kian Krzyzanowski of Williams Valley now owns all 3 major single season school receiving records. So far he’s caught 62 passes for 1,177 yards and 17 td catches. Andrew Olesh of Southern Lehigh caught 7 passes last week and upped his season total to 58 and his career total to 139 receptions. The 139 receptions puts him 17th place all-time in the District behind Noah Dolbin of Nativity who ended with 140 catches in week 11. Teammate Luke Kawczenski has 43 catches for 820 yards and 10 td’s this season. Carter Vassa of Bethlehem Catholic caught 42 passes for the second consecutive season. The sophomore has 84 career receptions for 1,379 yards and 15 td’s.
