District 11 Top Returning Players Week 8

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Niko Carestia of Schuylkill Haven had his 6th 200 plus yard rushing game when he gained 222 yards and scored 3 td’s in their win over Pine Grove. His District leading yardage is 1,793 yards. Carestia has scored 25 td’s this season and 50 for his career. Dante Carr of Minersville returned to the lineup and rushed for 207 yards and scored 5 td’s while throwing for 177 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Nativity. Carr has rushed for 978 yards and thrown for 1,360 yards this season. He’s scored 18 td’s and has thrown 18 td passes. Jason St. Ledger of Salisbury rushed for 204 yards and scored 3 t’s in their win over Palmerton. Eli Zimmerman of Northwestern went over 1,000 yards rushing for the season (1,100) and has scored 20 td’s. Aaron Beete of Freedom (1,090 yards), and Jameson Trainer of Palmerton (1,006 yards), hit the 1,000 yard rushing mark. Trainer is added to the chart as is Brennan Kunkle of Panther Valley (1,108 yards).

QUARTERBACKS:

Eight players went over 1,000 yards passing for the season in week 8. They are Rocco Delgiudice of PM East (1,130), Cole Ordway of Easton (1,111), Jack Trickel of Palisades (1,087), Aiden Reilly of Catasauqua (1,058), Osmany Guzman of Parkland (1,030), Gavin Taff of Northampton (1,014), Braden Rohn of Saucon Valley (1,008), and Caden Mengel of North Schuylkill (1,007). Taff and Ordway both hit the career 20 td pass mark. Rohn along with Levi Terry of Mahanoy Area (1,101 yards) joined the chart this week. Matt Bodnar of Notre Dame threw for 363 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Palisades. Bodnar’s District leading totals have him throwing just shy of 3,000 yards (2,978 yards). Bodnar did go over 3,000 yards for his career (3,351 yards). The junior leads the District with 30 td passes this season and he’s thrown 35 in his career. Colton Sams of Southern Lehigh threw for over 200 yards for the 6th time this year with his 237 yards he threw in their win over Bangor. Sams is in 2nd place behind Bodnar with his 1,717 yards passing. Chase Walker of Freedom also had his 6th game over 200 yards passing in week 8. Walker threw for 208 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Northampton. Walker has the 3rd highest total with 1,614 yards. He also went over 3,000 yards for his career (3,133 yards). Brady Shomper of Williams Valley threw for 256 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Marian Catholic. Shomper has thrown 20 td passes this season. Brady Strause of Blue Mountain threw for 222 yards vs North Schuylkill in week 8.

RECEIVERS:

Ethan Dudsak of Stroudsburg caught 5 passes in their win over ES North to give him a school record 68 career receptions. Marcello Riccardi held the old record when he caught 64 passes from 2013-15. Dudsak also broke Riccardi’s single season reception record with his District leading 48 catches. Riccardi caught 44 passes in 2015. Brady Behr of PM West caught 10 passes in their loss to ES South to give him a school record 77 career receptions. Matt Shelter held the old record when he caught 74 passes from 2010-12. The 10 catches also ties Shelter for the school record single game record. Caleb Newsome of Nazareth went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career in week 8 (1,066). I forgot to mention there were 5 players to also hit the 1,000 yard career mark in week 7. They were Alex Clark of Notre Dame, Paiten Lapoint of Minersville, Jake Puksyzn of Liberty, Shacre Colwell of Freedom, and Talon Dogmantis of Whitehall. Following Dudsak’s 48 catches is Kian Krzyzanowski of Williams Valley who has 45 receptions. Victor Schlosser of Tamaqua follows with 43 catches, and Justin Yescavage of Jim Thorpe has 41 catches. Xzavier Pusateri of ES South still leads the District in reception yardage (854). Krzyzanowski is second with 808 yards. Pusateri is now tied with Krzyzanowski for the District td reception lead (11). Jack Robertson of Saucon Valley caught 3 td passes in their win over Pen Argyl and tied the school record. Ben Scholl caught 3 td passes in 1955 vs Pen Argyl and Robertson caught 3 td’s vs Wilson in 2023. Robertson has 10 td receptions on the season and 24 for his career. Luke Kawczenski of Southern Lehigh joined the chart with 590 yards.   

Noah Dolbin of Nativity career receiving total watch:

135 receptions – 21st place all-time in the District. Dolbin moved ahead of Tim Walter of Southern Lehigh (133 catches from 2014-16)

2,708 yards – 9th place all-time in the District (8th place is Nate Stefanik of Nazareth) 2,738 yards from 2016-19. He moved ahead of Matt Camilletti of Pius X) 2,642 yards from 2008-11.
