District 2 Talk Week 8

Berwick

Berwick’s defense led them over Wilkes-Barre Coughlin 21-0 in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 3A game.

The offense was led by their running game. The Dawgs had 15 first downs and Lou Hampton rushed for 88 yards on 31 carries. Jared Pierce had 75 yards on 11 carries and Alec Ladonis had 66 yards on 15 carries.

The Dawgs finished the game with 220 yards on the ground.

Berwick (6-2) hosts Dallas.

Hazleton Area

AJ Petrone scored the game winning touchdown with 5:35 remaining as Hazleton Area outlasted Crestwood 7-0.

Petrone rushed for 121 yards on 19 carries and the games only score. Matt Manfredi added 119 yards on 14 carries.

Hazleton Area had 247 yards of total offense. On defense they held Crestwood to 159 total yards of offense.

Hazleton Area (6-2) hosts East Stroudsburg South.

Lakeland

Running back Brett Kuwik led a potent rushing attack to a 25-14 win over Scranton Prep.

Kuwik led the Cheifs with 172 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Lakeland rushed for 254 yards on the ground.

Kuwik had touchdown runs of 3,5,29 and 73 yards.

Lakeland (5-3) travels to Western Wayne.

Wyoming Valley West

After a blocked field goal early in the fourth-quarter by Williamsport you might think that was a weakness. Not so as Wyoming Valley West’s kicker Nathan Snedden calmly kicked a game winning field goal with nine seconds to go giving Wyoming Valley West a 19-17 win over Williamsport.

Wyoming Valley West had 283 yards of total offense. George Simms rushed for 99 yards on 19 carries and one score. Christian Martinez added 87 yards on 18 carries.
