District 3 Talk Week 11 09

Wilson West Lawn

Wilson West Lawn defeated William Penn of York 31-7 in a Class 4A playoff game at John Gurski Stadium.

Quarterback Zach Zweizig completed 12 of 20 passes for 207 yards and three touchdowns.

Kriss Brown rushed for 103 yards on 13 carries.

Wilson West Lawn plays Central York.

Delone Catholic

Matt Haines interception sealed the deal as Delone Catholic won over Wyomissing Area 49-28.

Running back Wes Smith rushed for 189 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns. Dusty Reed rushed for 183 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns.

Smith had touchdown runs of 90, 3 and 74 yards on the ground. Reed had touchdowns runs of 23 and 53 yards on the ground.

Delone Catholic plays Littlestown.

Manheim Central

Manheim Central racked up 410 yards of offense and cruised to a 49-8 win over Shippensburg Area.

Quarterback Justin Gorman completed 8 of 10 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for two scores.

Running back Joe Gruber rushed for 80 yards on seven carries. Tyler Griffith rushed for 57 yards on eight carries.

Manheim Central plays Daniel Boone.

Bishop McDevitt

Quarterback Matt Johnson passed for 314 yards and four touchdowns as the Crusaders beat Harrisburg 42-24.

Jameel Poteat rushed for 89 yards on 25 carries.

McDevitt had 448 yards of offense and 17 first downs.

Bishop McDevitt plays Governor Mifflin.

  1. Here’s an idea then. For other schools with the same name, for instance North Penn and Hempfield, they put the district in parentheses. Why not do the same for the Wilsons?

  2. I think it is so readers don’t confuse Wilson High School in West Lawn with Wilson Area High School from another region.
