Curtis Brinkley, former running back for West Catholic High School and the 6th-leading rusher in state history, was shot this morning in suburban Philadelphia.
The Associated Press released a report at 7:30 a.m. Friday morning which did not provide an update of condition for the former Burr standout, who survived the shooting.
Brinkley attended Syracuse University and was a free agent signing of the San Diego Chargers.
Police reported to the AP that the shooting occurred around midnight in Cheltenham, just outside of the city to the north in Montgomery County.
No motive for the shooting was known at the time of the report.
Brinkley finished his career at West Catholic accumulating 7,413 yards rushing. That total is tops in the Philadelphia Catholic League and stands, to this day, as the West Catholic career record.
