Dear WHspirit 18,
On what facts do you base your statement that LaSalle College HS is a cheating recruiting team?
Can you name names or provide more insight than just a anger driven opinion?
How do they cheat? How do they recruit? Do they offer Athletic scholarships?
Would you offer a 14 year old 70 to 80 THOUSAND dollars in tuition x say 22 players every year. That comes out to $1.760,000.00 dollars a year.
Give some hard facts and do some math first because all you are doing is making yourself look like a fool with unsubstantiated comments like these.
Jerry- Sorry, I disagree with you on most of that. Rankings are stupid in the first place, but a really good team from Texas that may have had a mediocre record this year would beat most teams from up here. Even the teams that are undefeated or with one loss. Strength of schedule is important when it comes to rankings and stuff like that. And sorry i did not specify, I really only meant Quad A because that’s what I really follow. I don’t pay attention to the other classes much. But, I’m glad you didn’t root for LaSalle cause they are just a cheating and recruiting team that still can’t win with an unfair advantage. And, I’m glad you’re a Steelers fan. I am too.
I wanted to leave on a good note, but since you brought it up. When you said that the level of competition is better in the west. I assuming you meant all the classes, not just Quad A. Well then. I believe the west(the best) was represented by District 3 the last 2 years in the state finals. If I’m correct District 3 is really from the eastern half of Pa. Just to make it even better they were east of the Susquehanna River also. But if it makes you feel better I did root for N A in the finals. and I’m a Steelers fan.
Rankings are not based on the competition. It’s based on your won-loss record. At least it should be. This is the same argument that the Dunmore fan had earlier. On paper and in the past they were better than those other teams, but they ended up with 5 losses. I don’t care if you lose by 1or20pts. a loss is a loss.
Look at Bishop McDevitt in the state title game this year. They outplayed ACC for 3.5 quarters or more. They were not rewarded with gold. they got the silver because they lost. You know a play here a play there. That’s all it takes and you’re on the loosing end of as you say. When there are teams from your district that have less l’s than you, they should be higher even though you went farther than they did. An L is an L and nothing is going to change that.
I just hope that you team captains showed a little more sportsmanship than the McDevitt quarterback showed when they were presented with the silver trophy. You owe that to the rest of team and the fans that supported you during the season. Nobody likes second place, but it’s a lot better than having nothing to for it at all.
As for my team. They are a perennial state power. They didn’t have the studs they are use to, but still made a good run. Who knows a play here a play there and they would have been there too.
Good luck next season.
Jerry- I’m only stating facts. You had no answers to my questions, so that shows me how right I am. Thank you for proving me right. What is your team? And I’m not crying about anything, I’m just backing up why WH should be ranked high. There is harder competition in Western PA, Jerry! How can you not get that through your head?!
should’a would’a could’a. Grow up. My team got their 4th loss in states and they are not ranked and I’m not crying at all. There’s always next year.
Jerry- You are so incredibly wrong it’s funny. Woodland Hills would have won states easily, just like NA, if they would have won the WPIAL Championship. WH had 4 losses- one to Manatee(one of the best teams in the country), one to North Hills on a lucky tipped TD pass(without Pitts, WH’s most explosive player), one to Central Catholic(one of the top teams in PA), and one to state champs, NA. WH may have had those 4 losses, but they totally deserve to be in the top 10 in the state. Let me ask you this, if WH would have won states, they would have done so with 3 losses. So, would you still have been saying they shouldn’t be ranked? Does one loss to a great team make that much of a difference?
I’m from the east. But that doesn’t matter. My cable company carries FSN so I watched when they carried the games. It’s a shame they didn’t have more than they did.But you can’t sit there and expect to be ranked with that many losses. What you’re saying is that it doesn’t matter how many losses you have. If you run the table your the best. Not so ,just lucky. How many other powerhouse teams had less losses and are not ranked. There are other teams and their fans that would agree with that. Don’t expect it because of what they have done other years. That should not have any bearing on this year at all. Quit being a homer and recognize the teams that deserve it.
Jerry- Did you ever see Woodland Hills play this year? If not, shut your mouth. You probably have no idea what you’re talking about. Woodland Hills was so close to being the WPIAL Champs. Then, they would have most likely gone on to win states like NA. So, if I were you, I wouldn’t make those stupid comments about WH not being in the top ranked teams of AAAA.
I’m a Riverside grad and even I will tell you that Dunmore is far better team than Old Forge.
So 2 of Dunmore’s 5 losses were to Riverside, but here are Dunmore’s other 3 losses…
L 10-8 vs North Pocono (6-5)(AAA) <-who plays mostly a AAA & AAAA schedule.
L 27-24 vs West Scranton (9-3)(AAA) <- West Scranton's losses came from class A runner-up Riverside and AAA state-ranked Abington Heights twice <-whose only loss was to Allentown Central Catholic.
L 13-6 vs Lakeland (10-2)(AA) <-Lakeland's only 2 losses were to AA state-ranked GAR.
You can't tell me schedule doesn't matter. There is no way Old Forge hangs with the teams that beat Dunmore. I realize teams that make it further into the state playoffs do get a higher ranking but I would argue that Dunmore, realistically, would beat teams #6-10 and give Bishop Carroll & Farrell a run for their money.
It doesn’t matter what happened in other seasons. Too many people live in the past. If that’s the case, Manheim Central would be in the top 3-5 every year. GET A LIFE. The rankings are for the season. Now I know traditional powers do carry some clout but 5 losses are way too many.I know Josh has Woodland Hills ranked, but as he explained to me 2 of the losses are to out of state nationally ranked powerhouses.I also told him that didn’t matter. They should not be there. ECP shouldn’t be there either ,even though they made a deep run in the playoffs. So quit crying. Maybe next year Dunmore more will return to form . Then again maybe not.
Thanks for the insight Jeff. FYI, I’m an RV alum and the point I was trying to make (which went over your head) was that ppl look at this Funk guy and Frisco as know all, end all voices of opinion. When ppl try to have debates about programs, the discussion always ends w “Frisco said this” or “the guy in the west that watches ALL these teams ranked them here”. If they did any research whatsoever on LFC football they would know Dunmore is a far superior football program to OF and to rank OF higher is just plain silly. To miss something that everyone in this area knows doesn’t give some of these rankings and opinions much credibility. This is sounding like a typical OF bash from a Viking but it’s truly not the argument I’m trying to make… just facts, besides OF has some very good athletes and programs. And Dunmore did challenge RV in both games this year, both games I attended along w the SCA and SH games. From what I and many others observed, Dunmore certainly could have handled RV’s 1st two state playoff opponents (both of whom are in the final rankings). Oh and btw, Harrisburg is actually the only ranking that does matter.
Dunmore’s record was 7-5 and they didn’t TAKE it to Riverside, they lost TWICE. I’m sick of you cry babies that feel you should deserve a ranking cause you’re DUNMORE. 7-5 record doesn’t belong in the top 10 or honorable mention regardless or schedule and if it wasn’t for Harrisburg you wouldn’t be in any.
c’mon Goggles, how can you have Old Forge ranked as an honorable mention and leave Dunmore out of the rankings period??? Not only did Dunmore shut OF out in the playoffs, they played a much more difficult schedule and took it to RV twice… you’re supposed to be an expert? The Bucks should be top 5-10 in ‘A’.
