I probably won’t ever look at these rankings again – as they seem quite meaningless. It is one thing to rank a team like North Penn ahead of a team they lost to earlier in the season (LaSalle) at the end of the year when all the cards have been dealt…but this is asinine. LaSalle smoked (destroyed, beat down, whupped etc) NP and everyone who was there knows what I’m talking about. LaSalle then lost to a Top 3 Jersey team on a fluke fumble when they were in field goal position at the 15 yard line to win the game! These rankings are just plain silly…
Everyone has their own opinion. Josh is really knowledgeable when it comes to high school football. He works on it year round. If you compare Josh’s to the other three(Patriot,PA Football News, and Sports Fever. You will see that he usually has 7-8 in all the classes most of the time. After all the only rankings that really matter are the final standings and the #1 ranking with the title.
I do think that you should have LaSalle rated above NP at this point, but I do think LaSalle caught them on a bad night. I would personally put my money on NP by season’s end. Also, your not giving Easton much love by rating them at 10. They are loaded and should also be a force by playoff time. Finally, West catholic in AA does have two losses but would maul a couple of the teams you have rated higher.
To address the comment regarding Cardinal O’hara –
They did play teams that are not quite as competitive so far. However, all teams will face weaker opponents throughout the year. O’Hara scrimmaged George Washington, perennial Philadelphia Public League Champs, and dominated them 35-0. They also scrimmaged Pennwood, who is currently unddefeated, and beat them 21-0. In 2 scrimmages and 3 games, not 1 point has been scored on O’Hara and they have scored 115 points. This week will be a true test against Roman, but don’t be surprised to see them in Hershey playing for AAA championship. They are for real.
I think flipper just says things to get a rise out of folks. That, or he is smokin’ something. I am sure that North Schyukill is a very good team. I said they would be good when they re-hired Rick Geist as head coach. But to say they are better than almost any Berwick or Southern team borders on the mentally deranged. Who have they played? Jim Thorpe? Now there is a perennial powerhouse. Shendo? They had an excellent team about 4 years ago, (the one SCA dissmantled at the tune of 41-0 at half time), but have been struggling since.
Hey Jive – Teams do have a say in who they play to some extent. In league is in league but, they do pick who they play out of league. Teams need to Step up! At least a little.
Agree LaSalle should be above NP. Defending state champ, beat up NP, only lost to a Jersey prep school. Find out about O’Hara saturday when they play Roman, then Wood in a couple weeks. O’Hara played who they played can’t punish them for that. Flippinphil c’mon dude, love the school spirit but NS wouldn’t hold a candle to the SCA Hynoski teams. AA not minor league, some very good teams in A and AA just more good teams in AAA and AAAA.
I told him this last week when he had North Penn rated ahead of LaSalle. Your wasting your breathe he must have graduated from North Penn or just doesn’t like to listen to logic.
well then flippenphil, they should just mercy rule their way through the state title being that the best SCA teams mercy ruled their way through it. I know SCA is class A, but those dominant SCA teams would’ve done well in AA too.
flippenphil…r u serious?
First of all, ur talking AA, minor league hs football.
Second, Berwick’s jv team would be all over ns.
Third, u really think there’s not 6 teams in the state that could beat this outfit?
ns isn’t even the best team in the county.
remember the beat downs pottsville gave ns when they played?
get a clue, flippiln phil…it’s AA…nothing more.
North Schuylkill is just one of 5 teams in PA to not give up any points. They also rack up alot of points midway through the 2nd quarter and watch the 2nd and 3rd strings hold off for the rest of the game.
There is NO WAY there are 6 teams in AA better than them, possibly 6 teams in the state. This team is better than almost any Berwick or Southern Columbia team over the past 15 years.
Come get some.
North Allegheny deserves to be number 2. Wait to watch them play, you’ll see.
Josh in case you forgot LaSalle beat up on North Penn at NP just two weeks ago. You are in deinal, North Penn is just not that good.
How can you have North Penn above LaSalle. LaSalle beat them head to head by 13 points! Come on.
And Cardinal O’Hara as #4 in all of AAA. They beat 3 very bad teams. You can’t reward a team for playing sub-par compitition.
