FORT WASHINGTON—The 128th annual Germantown Academy-Penn Charter football game will be broadcast live from Carey Stadium on The Comcast Network on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30pm. The GA-PC football rivalry is the oldest continuous prep school football rivalry in the country.
“We are excited to host this year’s GA-PC Day and extremely proud that in addition to the thousands of spectators in attendance at all the day’s competitions, the entire Delaware Valley will have the opportunity to tune in to the big football game,” said Director of Athletics Jim Fenerty 1760.
Viewers are encouraged to check local television listings for channel information in the Greater Philadelphia area, including Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, South New Jersey, and Delaware.
The GA-PC football teams have competed annually since 1887 in what has become the oldest, continuous prep school football rivalry in the country. Last year, the Patriots rallied to defeat the Quakers, 42-35.
Overall, Penn Charter leads the football series, 82-34-11. The Patriots lead the Competition Cup series, 10-4-4.
GA-PC Day competitions begin with the girls’ tennis match at 10am followed by the boys’ and girls’ cross country races (10:15am), the field hockey match (10:15am), the boys’ soccer match (10:30am), the girls’ water polo match (10:30am), the girls’ soccer match (11:30am), the boys’ water polo (12pm), and the 128th annual GA-PC football game (1:30pm).
In addition to the athletic competitions, the day will also feature a combined GA-PC Art Gallery, a fun run, face painting, a moon bounce, and food for purchase from Pizza Wagon, Brother Bear BBQ Truck, and P.J. Whelihan’s Wing Truck (bring cash!). Mobile GA concession stands will be open as well. All items can be purchased directly from the vendors.
