The sixth week of the 2008 season found just two surprises for the top ranked teams in Ed Thomas’ Southeastern Pa Top Ten. The LaSalle Explorers and Downingtown West fell to Father Judge and West Chester Henderson in hard fought league games.
The top teams will be hard pressed to keep up the good work this week as several face high powered opponents. Number one ranked North Penn faces 5-1 Quakertown in a true test for the Knights. In the Central League third ranked Ridley travels to tenth ranked Penncrest and this contest has league championship written all over it.
Over the last two seasons a little bit of observation and a lot of luck have allowed this writer a prediction record of 105-36. This season is has been a little tough but a 21-9 prediction record going into the seventh week will have to suffice for now.
Last weekend North Penn, Cardinal O’Hara. Garnet Valley and Strath Haven all won as predicted. Chester’s upset of Interboro was the only blemish on last weeks picks.
One key match up has the John Waller coached Ridley Green Raiders traveling to 2008 Central League upstart Penncrest. The Lions have shocked many in the league with wins over Strath Haven and Haverford. Quarterback Matt Atkinson has done it all for Penncrest but the balanced Green Raiders just won’t be denied..
Prediction: Ridley 27 Penncrest 20
