When you entered Stan Dakosty stadium at Marian Catholic you could hear the collective sigh of relief. It was finally time for football in PA. The Schuylkill League stayed the course this off-season and forged ahead with fall sports. The culmination of the leagues steadfast resolve was football games played on Friday Night. In a crossover match up between Jim Thorpe and Marian Catholic, the Olympians prevailed over the Colts Friday Night 43-0.
Special teams and a stifling Olympians defense played a huge part in this game The Olympians’ first score came at the 9:19 mark of quarter one on a blocked punt safety. The Jim Thorpe defense, which was tough all night, got the ball back for the offense quickly. The Olympians capitalized with a quick TD by Brandon Fasolino to make it 9-0 and Jim Thorpe was on their way. Fasolino scored his second TD of the quarter on the next Olympian possession. This time it was a 40-yard run to make it 16-0 with 4:36 in the quarter.
