Let the great debate begin

While our fearless political leaders face off in Denver this week local high school football fans have plenty of good reason to debate which teams will rise to the top as the 2012 season continues. As the sixth week of the season approaches,  Ridley, Downingtown East, Central Bucks South, Plymouth-Whitemarsh and West Chester Rustin are the top five teams in playoff points for District One AAAA.

If you are taking a pulse of the D-1 AAA playoff race West Chester Henderson, Pottsgrove, Springfield, Academy Park, Interboro and Sun Valley lead the way. These rankings are sure to change as the next four weeks will determine the final standings.

Week five predictions went ok as this future teller went 3-2 as Archbishop Wood, Central Bucks South and Coatesville all won as predicted while Springfield (Delco) surprised Garnet Valley and Penncrest stole the Media Bowl from Strath Haven to account for the two near misses last week.

The last six years the prognostication record stands at 282-110 while going 15-5 for the 2012 season.

This sixth week of the season offers another great set of games for local fans to check out.

In the Philadelphia Catholic League AAAA powerhouse St Joseph’s Prep will host equally talented AAA division Archbishop Wood. The reigning AAA Pa State champion Vikings were led by running back Andrew Guckin last week as he accounted for 142 total yards and three TD runs for 38-14 win over a very good Cardinal O’Hara eleven.  They will face a more difficult task this weekend when they take on the undefeated St Joe Hawks. Coach Gabe Infante directed his high powered offensive attack to a 37-7 win over Roman Catholic last Saturday afternoon. The Hawks will fly high again this weekend with a close but impressive win. The game can be seen live on The Comcast Network Channel 8 and 856 HD on Friday night at 7:30 PM

St. Joseph’s Prep  38  Archbishop Wood  30

The rest of this week’s fearless forecast:

Ridley  34  Garnet Valley  19

West Chester Rustin  31  Great Valley  13

Central Bucks South  28  North Penn  24

Interboro  34  Glen Mills  18

  1. Thanks T Davidson

North Penn & St Joe Prep game could have gone the other way.

GV was leading Ridley 17-7 at the start of the 4th qt as well.

Lucky guess on all those 3.

  2. Might get lazy & watch Ridley game on live streaming video tonight.

St Joe Prep Vs Wood is on Comcast tonight as well.

Agree GV could keep it closer but I think Ridley is playing better than Springfield at this point so it could be a blow out.

  3. CB South over NP? That’s gonna be a good game. NP really needs this win to help their playoff chances. I think the GV game will be closer. If GV can stop the long breakaway runs that killed them last week against Springfield, they have a good chance. Are you going to the Ridley/GV game? I’ll be watching the Cougars.
