DREXEL HILL – Shawn Wooden of the Maxwell Football Club, announced Thursday night that Luke Emge, a senior from Manheim Township High School, was recognized as the Maxwell Football Club Pennsylvania Player of the Year.
This took place at the Club’s 33rd annual awards dinner at Drexelbrook Country Club in Drexel Hill. In addition, the Maxwell Football Club honored 65 finalists with Mini-Max trophies.
The Mini-Max is awarded to the region’s top senior football players. The region is made up of players from District 1, 3, 11, 12 and Independent schools.
Emge is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound senior who completed 140 of 227 passes for 1,880 yards and 24 touchdowns. He rushed for 455 yards on 111 carries and 8 touchdowns.
Not only did Luke excel on the field, he did so in the classroom too. He has a 4.0 GPA and scored over 1450 on the SAT. He is a member of the National Honor Society and volunteers his time as a student tutor, youth camp counselor, and reading fair volunteer. Luke will attend Harvard University and continue his football career.
His team finished 12-2.
The Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware Players of the Year will be the candidates for the Club’s Jim Henry Award as the Outstanding Player in the region.
The winner of the Jim Henry Award will be announced as part of the Maxwell Football Club’s National Awards Gala which will be held in March 9, 2018 at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. The Maxwell Football Club will also present its collegiate and professional awards at this event.
