Montgomery’s Zach Shadle sets the school single game rushing record

montgomeryZach Shadle rushed for 398-yards on 20 carries to lead Montgomery over Bucktail 32-22. D.J. Flick held the previous record in 1979. He rushed for 331 yards against Williams Valley.

“Zach had a tremendous game for us, but you have to give credit to the offensive line,” said head football coach Tom Persing. They did a good job blocking and he was able to run away from people.“

“Our offensive line worked real hard in the offseason. They got bigger and stronger.”

This was Zach’s first game at running back. Last year he played quarterback for the Red Raiders.

“Our starting quarterback broke his foot in the first game last year and Zach had to play quarterback for us,” said Persing. “He was more of a running quarterback.”

Zach had three touchdown runs and an 80-yard run called back.
