After a rain filled week, the Muhls came out on Friday night ready to stop the Northern York Polar Bears attack. Unfortunately, Northern York came out running and the Muhls defense could not stop the run.
Northern York struck first on a nine yard pass to take the touchdown lead. That was the Polar Bears only passing touchdown as they relied on the running game for a majority of the night.
Muhlenberg struck back in the beginning of the second quarter with a 13 yard touchdown pass from Adam Huber to Jordan Jeter. Northern York wasted no time getting back with a 47 yard kickoff return. They then used a four play drive to regain the lead on a seven yard run from Northern York’s Locke. The Muhls could not respond, going three and out. Northern York gobbled up the opportunity and ran the ball for another touchdown to make it 21-7. Right before halftime, it looked like the Muhls could get back in the game when Zach Waltz recovered a fumble. The Muhls could not respond and went into the locker room down two touchdowns.
In the third quarter, Muhlenberg’s Jordan Jeter caught an interception sparking the Muhls offense to score on a 34 yard pass to Baker to cut the deficit to one TD. The Muhls could never tie the game up, though, as Northern York scored twice more on runs by Elijah Locke. The score after three quarters was 42-21 Polar Bears.
In the fourth quarter, the highlight for the Muhls was a twenty-six yard pass from Adam Huber to Eli Quinter. The Muhls would lose the game by a final of 49-28. Northern York’s running game just plowed through the Muhlenberg defense for 389 yards and six rushing touchdowns. Adam Huber looked very good on the offensive side where he completed 12 of his 21 passes and threw for three touchdowns.
The Muhls look to rebound against Wyomissing this weekend in a rivalry game. The game will be played at Wyomissing on Saturday afternoon. The day time atmosphere should make this game exciting. As everyone knows when it comes down to rivals, anything can happen….
