Imhotep Charter defeated Erie Cathedral Prep 30-3 for the Class AAA State Championship on December 18th at Hersheypark Stadium. They finished the season 15-0 and ranked 10th national by USA Today.
This was the first football title for the Philadelphia Public league.
One of the big reasons was senior running back Mike Waters. He finished that night rushing for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
An early season injury to fellow running back Tyliek Raynor meant Waters shouldered the majority of Imhotep’s running attack.
“Mike is a special running back,” said head football coach Albie Crosby. “He stepped in Tyliek’s roll and did a great job for us this year.”
He didn’t disappoint. He finished the season rushing for 1,889 yards and 45 touchdowns.
“He is a powerful runner and has great vision. He understood our offense and led our team.”

How was he chosen over Saucon Valley’s Evan Culver??? Culver had OVER 2500 yards, OVER 45 touchdowns, and played all season. Just curious
Both are good Paul.
