j.dumondWhat does versatility mean? Versatility allows you to adapt to many different situations. That is what Dumond did this year for St. Joseph’s Prep.

Joe Dumond is a physical defensive end who also sees time at fullback or tight end. He played several positions for Prep to help his team win.

“On offense he ran or caught the ball at times when needed. But, defensively for us this year he was everything for us. We had him playing several different positions throughout the year. He played every front seven position and did a great job doing that.”

He is a four-year starter for St. Joseph’s Prep and the last three years he has been a two-way starter.

“He hasn’t missed a game in four years. I think it starts there,” said Head Football Coach Gabe Infante. “So if you want to talk about toughness, both physical and mental, then being able to play in that many games over four years is a accomplishment.”

Dumond has played in two state finals winning a state championship in 2013 and 2014. He was named MVP All-Catholic AAAA Division.

When you talk about a versatile player, Joe is that.

“We moved him around where we thought we needed to win the match ups. He was a great leader helping the younger players this year.”
