Sophomore Quarterback Ricky Ortega was a force in District One. In 2017 he completed 192 of 304 passes for 3,270 yards, 42 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
“His ability to always extend plays makes our offense go,” said Head Coach Matt Ortega.
Ricky did just that. He rushed for 823 yards and 10 touchdowns.
“He has a high football IQ and understands what the offense needs to do in order to be successful.”
Maybe Ricky’s best game of his career came in the PIAA semifinal game against nationally ranked St. Joseph’s Prep. In that game, he completed 25 of 40 passes for 434 yards and six touchdowns.
His team finished 13-2.

Congratulations Ricky on a fantastic season. Well deserved. Hope to see Coatesville get some revenge on the Tri-State All Stars next year.
