Entering the first round of Districts, the Rollers had a 3-7 record. But, they had maybe the toughest Class 1A schedule in the state, eight of the 10 teams they faced were Class 3A or bigger teams.
The Rollers, a two-time PIAA State Champion (2007-2008), were set to be led by one of their own.
“As a lifelong roller, I have had the opportunity to play as well as coach multiple state championship teams over the years,” said Head Football Coach Andrew Erby. “With that being said, this particular season has had the most impact on me for multiple reasons. First and foremost, my hat goes off to our kids. They were able to battle through more adversity this season then I ever thought would be possible.”
By playing a tougher schedule, they beat Halifax, Muncy and Williams Valley all the way to the PIAA Class 1A Semi-Final game against Bishop Guilfoyle who went on to win their third straight title.
“Our kids are true fighters and have created positive inspiration in our community. I am thankful to be surrounded by a coaching staff that brings relentless energy and puts countless hours into preparing our kids to be the best they can be. Without the heart and dedication of our entire program this season, it could have ended long before any playoff run. I am forever grateful and very blessed to be a part of such an amazing program and community.”
