Offensive Player of the Week

Keon Kenner – Bishop McDevitt – RB – Freshman

In the Lancers’, 26-to-14, PIAA Quarterfinal Playoff victory over Camp Hill this past Friday night, the rugged Kenner scored a pair of touchdowns (4 & 8 yards) and amassed 100 yards on 14 bruising carries. Only a freshman, Kenner has added a nice jolt to McDevitt’s offense over the past two weeks. His bruising nature allowed the Lancers to maintain possession and move the chains throughout the contest. Thus, allowing them fend-off a good Camp Hill squad.

Defensive Player of the Week

Emmanuel Sia – Bishop McDevitt – DB – Junior

With his team trailing, 14-13 early in the third quarter, Sia instinctively jumped a short third down pass for an interception. After the pick he sprinted untouched 49 yards for what proved to be the game-winning score. Sia’s timely effort was just what the Lancers needed, as they maintained control from this point on. Sia also added a one tackle and two pass defends in the game.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Joachim McElroy – Bishop McDevitt – KR/K/P – Senior

McElory is one of the McDevitt’s leaders and certainly a player that head coach Mike Watkins’ relies on. Why else would he burden him with so much responsibility? Aside from being a focal point on both sides of the ball for the Lancers, McElroy is a stalwart on special teams. He handles all of the kicking chores and is featured as a returner, too. In the game, he did a little bit of everything. He made two extra-points, his lone punt went for 42 yards, and added 24 yards in return. Defensively, he had a key interception (23-yard return) in the end zone to stymie a Camp Hill drive. He also notched a pair of tackles while adding a pass defend. Offensively, he mad 5 catches for 52 yards. Just another week at the office for the unassuming, but ultra-reliable McElroy.
