North Schuylkill favored in AFL coaches preseason poll

BARNESVILLE (August 6) – North Schuylkill received seven of the 11 first-place votes in the Anthracite Football League Coaches Preseason Poll which was conducted at the annual Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association Media Conference held at Mountain Valley Golf Course.

In being projected as favorites to win the league, the Spartans received 111 of a possible 121 points, and perhaps the biggest surprise is that first-year league member Lehighton is projected to finish second with 104 points and has two first-place votes. Schuylkill Haven is projected to finish third with 103 point, receiving one first-place vote, and first-year league member Blue Mountain is projected to finish fourth with 91 points and has one first-place vote.

Completing the poll by projected order of finish and point totals are: Marian, 80; Tamaqua, 64; Jim Thorpe, 60; Mahanoy Area, 38; Panther Valley, 30; Minersville, 27; and Shenandoah Valley, 18.

  1. It seems Ns is getting a lot of hype this offseason on a lot of different boards. how bout a ns spartan preview. id like to see what they got coming back.
