Philadelphia Northeast High School has produced a couple of Division-1 football prospects in Malik (QB) & Je’Ron Stokes (WR). When Je’Ron Stokes was recruited, he was one of Pennsylvania’s more sought-after wide receivers.
Now, a defensive player for the Vikings is a potential Division-1 prospect.
Deion Barnes, a 6’5, 220-pound senior-to-be, has received eight Division-1 offers to date, according to his profile on Rivals.com.
Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia have all extended offers to Barnes. Schools like Duke, Rutgers, Syracuse and Temple have expressed interest, but not extended an offer, according to Rivals.
Northeast did not submit stats to Maxpreps. Barnes was part of a Viking defense that allowed an average of 19.2 points per game, holding three of their final four opponents to seven points or less, with one shutout.
